JULY 28 is World Hepatitis Day

Did you know that chronic viral hepatitis is a leading cause of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer? 🎗️

Often called a "silent killer," Hepatitis B and C can damage the liver for years without causing any obvious symptoms. But here is the good news: it is preventable, treatable, and in the case of Hepatitis C, completely curable.

This , let’s take action to protect our health and our loved ones: 💉 Get Vaccinated: Ensure newborns receive the Hepatitis B birth dose within 24 hours. 🩺 Get Tested: Routine blood tests don’t always screen for hepatitis—ask your doctor for a specific test. 🗣️ Break the Stigma: Share accurate facts and encourage open conversations about liver health.

Nutrition is a vital pillar in the fight against cancer.

For individuals undergoing cancer treatment, maintaining proper nutrition is essential. The right foods help manage treatment side effects, preserve lean muscle mass, boost energy levels, and speed up recovery and healing.

This Nutrition Month, we salute the caregivers, dietitians, and families working hard to provide nourishing meals for their loved ones on this journey. Remember, every nourishing bite counts!

Quick Tip for Patients: If you are experiencing nausea or a loss of appetite, try eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day, and focus on protein-rich, easily digestible foods. Always consult your oncology team or a registered dietitian to tailor a meal plan that works best for your specific needs.

This Bone Cancer & Sarcoma Awareness Month, the Philippine Cancer Society urges everyone to be vigilant. Watch out for these common symptoms:
👉 A persistent lump that can be felt through the skin
👉 Unexplained, deep pain in the bones or joints
👉 Unexpected or easily triggered fractures
👉 Chronic fatigue or unexplained weight loss

At this time, there is no known definitive prevention against sarcomas. This makes early detection and timely medical consultation absolutely crucial. If you or a loved one notices these symptoms, do not delay—consult a doctor immediately.
