Department of Behavioral Sciences, CAS-UPManila This is the Official page of the Department of Behavioral Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of the Philippines Manila.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Behavioral Science was launched in 1987 and was administered by the Department of Social Sciences. It was then known as BA Social Studies (Behavioral Studies). In 1999, the name of the program was changed to Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science to provide the program its unique position in the academic community. A major transformation occurred in 2002 when the Board

of Regents in its 1162nd meeting on August 29, approved the creation of the Department of Behavioral Sciences. The Department of Behavioral Sciences envisions to develop a transdisciplinary center of excellence in the behavioral sciences insipired by the ideas of a skillful, compassionate, committed and dependable character for nation-building. Graduates of the program are expected to be highly skilled in behavior analysis and behavior change, research and training, human resource development, and community work. Being a part of the health science campus of the University, the Department also seeks to generate and share valuable information that could enhance the Filipino's health and well- being through training and research in health social science and behavioral health.

Check out this paper on antibiotic misuse among adult residents of Rodriguez, Rizal. In this paper, Mr. Dela Cruz and Prof. Hernandez found that self-medication with antibiotics remains highly prevalent among residents of Rodriguez, Rizal. The study revealed that antibiotic misuse is shaped not only by awareness, but also by healthcare access barriers, financial limitations, sociocultural norms, and informal sources of antibiotics.
