As required under Republic Act No. 9482 (Anti-Rabies Act of 2007):
โœ”๏ธ Have your dogs vaccinated against rabies every year.
โœ”๏ธ Keep your pets under control. Do not allow them to roam freely.
โœ”๏ธ Register your pets with your Local Government Unit, when applicable.
โœ”๏ธ Observe your dog or cat for 14 days if it bites someone.
โœ”๏ธ Seek immediate veterinary consultation if your pet shows signs of illness.
โœ”๏ธ Cooperate with health authorities if a bite incident occurs.
If you are bitten or scratched by a dog or cat:
๐Ÿฉน Wash the wound immediately with running water and soap for at least 15 minutes.
๐Ÿงด Apply an antiseptic if available.
๐Ÿฅ Go to the nearest Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) or health facility immediately. Do not wait for symptoms to appear rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms develop, but it is 100% preventable through timely post-exposure prophylaxis.
Responsible pet ownership is more than providing food and shelter it includes vaccination, supervision, proper training, and ensuring your pet does not become a risk to others.
