Orthodontic Fact: Age 7 is the magic number! 🦷✨
Did you know that children should have their first orthodontic check-up no later than age 7?
By this age, most children have a mix of baby and permanent teeth, specifically the first adult molars and incisors. This allows an orthodontist to evaluate the developing bite front-to-back and side-to-side.
While treatment might not be needed right away, this crucial early evaluation helps intercept hidden issues like crossbites, severe crowding, or jaw growth discrepancies before they become complex problems. Early detection can simplify future treatment, naturally guide jaw growth, and even prevent the need for permanent tooth extractions or jaw surgery later in life!
