THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY IS
COMING THIS SATURDAY

August 15 marks the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one of the great feasts of the Catholic Church.

The Assumption celebrates our faith that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heavenly glory. She was not simply remembered by Heaven—she was welcomed into the fullness of life with her Son.

The Assumption was solemnly defined as a dogma by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950, through Munificentissimus Deus.

This feast reminds us that Mary’s life was completely united with God—from her humble “Fiat” to her glorious entrance into Heaven.

Mary is a sign of hope for us.
Her Assumption reminds us that our earthly journey is not the end. Those who faithfully follow Christ are also called to share in the glory of Heaven.

Our Lady of the Assumption, pray for us.
May we one day join you in the glory of Heaven.
