🩷 What Does "No Evidence of Disease (NED)" Really Mean? 🩷

Hearing the words "No Evidence of Disease" (NED) is a moment many people facing breast cancer hope for. It can bring relief, gratitude, and hope—but it can also bring new emotions and questions.

🩷 What does NED mean?
"No Evidence of Disease" means that based on your current exams, scans, blood work, or other tests, your healthcare team does not see any detectable signs of cancer.

✨ What NED does mean:
• Your treatment has been effective.
• There is no detectable cancer at this time.
• It's a milestone worth celebrating.
• You'll continue regular follow-up care to monitor your health.

🩷 What NED does NOT mean:
• It does not necessarily mean you are "cured."
• It does not guarantee cancer will never return.
• It does not mean you no longer need follow-up appointments or recommended treatments.

Many survivors continue to experience fear of recurrence, often called scanxiety, even after reaching NED. These feelings are common and completely understandable.

🩷 If you've reached NED, celebrate the victory. Celebrate every milestone, every clear scan, and every ordinary day. But also know that it's okay if joy and anxiety exist at the same time.

🩷Understanding Your Breast Cancer Pathology Report 🩷

After a biopsy or surgery, one of the most important documents you'll receive is your pathology report. It contains detailed information about your cancer and helps your healthcare team create the best treatment plan for you.

🩷 Your pathology report may include:

🔬 Type of breast cancer
Examples include IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma), ILC (Invasive Lobular Carcinoma), DCIS, and other less common types.

📏 Tumor size
The size of the tumor helps determine the stage of your cancer.

📊 Tumor grade
This tells how abnormal the cancer cells look and how quickly they may be growing.

🧬 Hormone receptor status (ER/PR)
Shows whether estrogen or progesterone is helping the cancer grow.

🎯 HER2 status
Determines whether the cancer has too much HER2 protein, which can affect treatment options.

📈 Ki-67
A marker that estimates how quickly the cancer cells are dividing.

💗 Lymph node involvement
Indicates whether cancer cells were found in nearby lymph nodes.

🩺 Margins
After surgery, your report will state whether the edges of the removed tissue are free of cancer cells. "Clear" or "negative" margins mean no cancer was found at the edge of the tissue.

✨ Remember: Your pathology report is like a roadmap. No single result tells the whole story. Your doctors look at all of this information together to recommend the treatment that's right for you.
