Celebrating World Hearing Day 2026 at Bicol Medical Center! 🎉
The Newborn Hearing Screening Reference Center – Region V led a meaningful celebration with the theme “From Communities to Classroom – Hearing Care for All Children.” The afternoon program featured a hearing health symposium facilitated by the BMC ENT Department Resident Doctor, Dr. Jan Pauline Prieto, and with a welcome message from Dr. Diosdado C. Uy highlighting the importance of early detection of hearing problems among newborns and the PhilHealth Z Benefit Package, which provides free hearing aids to children diagnosed with mild to severe hearing loss. Participants also enjoyed fun advocacy games with prizes!
The evening program featured the Chorale Singing Contest and Camaraderie Night, where junior high school groups from Balatas NHS, Naga City School of Arts and Trades, Naga City Science High School, Universidad de Sta. Isabel JHS, University of Nueva Caceres JHS, and Naga College Foundation JHS showcased their talents. Performances included sign language interpretation to promote inclusivity for the deaf community. Special performances were given by the Naga Central I Children’s Choir, recent international champion in the Kobe International Choir Competition — Kobe, Japan, and by members of the Naga City Deaf Society.
Two patients of the Newborn Hearing Screening Reference Center received free hearing aids, one sponsored by Hearwell Medical Philippines and another through the PhilHealth Z Benefit Package.
Congratulations to Universidad de Sta. Isabel JHS for winning 1st place, followed by Naga College Foundation JHS and University of Nueva Caceres JHS, with special awards from sponsors including Rotary Club of Naga, HealthWorld International Corps, Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, and Hearwell Medical Philippines.
A heartfelt thank you to all participating schools, sponsors, partners, and the entire Newborn Hearing Screening Reference Center – Region V team for making this celebration a success! 💙
