‎👁️ Celebrating Sight Saving Month 2026! 👁️

‎In celebration of this year’s Sight Saving Month, the Bicol Medical Center Department of Ophthalmology proudly held one of the highlights of our month-long activities—an Eye Screening and Evaluation Mission dedicated to bringing quality eye care and eye health education closer to our community.
‎
‎More than an opportunity to provide eye screening and evaluation, the activity served as a platform to empower our patients with the knowledge they need to better protect their vision. Our team shared practical lessons on proper eye care, the importance of timely consultation, and the dangers of harmful eye health practices and improper use of eye drops. Because seeing clearly means being able to live life more fully.

‎This activity was also a meaningful opportunity for our department to come together and work toward a shared purpose. From our consultants and residents to our nurses and staff, everyone played an important role in making the activity possible. Seeing our team work hand in hand for our patients reminds us that Sight Saving Month is not only about raising awareness—it is about putting that advocacy into action.

Small habits, clear vision! 👁️💙

As part of our Sight Saving Month activities this August, the Department of Ophthalmology took to the OPD atrium to share quick, practical tips on caring for your eyes! 🗣️✨

During today’s public health lecture, our doctors discussed:
1️⃣ Proper and safe use of eye drops, including good hygiene and correct technique.
2️⃣ The risks of “cure-all” eye drops and self-medication, including possible side effects and delayed treatment.
3️⃣ When to consult an eye specialist, especially when warning signs such as pain, persistent redness, or blurred vision are present.

Preventing vision loss starts with awareness and timely care. We’re grateful for the active participation of our OPD patients today! 📸👋

Today, the Department of Ophthalmology of Bicol Medical Center proudly celebrates two meaningful occasions—the Blessing of our New Ophthalmic Operating Microscope and the opening of Sight Saving Month. 🔬✂️

August is Sight Saving Month, making this milestone even more meaningful. This advanced equipment enhances our intraoperative visualization, elevating our surgical precision and patient outcomes across all ophthalmic subspecialties.

As we begin Sight Saving Month, may this celebration remind us of our shared mission: to protect vision, prevent avoidable blindness, and make quality eye care accessible to those who need it most.

Ang bawat bata ay nararapat magkaroon ng pagkakataong matuto, mangarap, at maabot ang kanilang buong potensyal sa pamamagitan ng malinaw na paningin.

Ngayong Sight Saving Month, sama-sama nating isinusulong ang kampanyang "Bright Eyes for a Bright Future" upang itaguyod ang kalusugan ng mata ng bawat bata sa pamamagitan ng edukasyon, maagang pagsusuri sa paningin, at agarang interbensyon. Kaagapay ang ating mga chapter societies, mga katuwang na organisasyon, mga healthcare professionals, mga g**o, mga magulang, at ang buong komunidad, layunin nating matiyak na walang batang mapag-iiwanan dahil sa maiiwasan o magagamot na problema sa paningin.

Makibahagi sa pagpapalaganap ng kamalayan tungkol sa pangangalaga sa kalusugan ng mata at sama-sama nating gawing prayoridad ang malinaw na paningin ng bawat batang Pilipino.

The Bicol Medical Center Department of Ophthalmology is available for outpatient consultations on the following days:

📍 Room: B206
🗓️ Clinic Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
🕣 Clinic Hours: 8:30 AM – 12:00 NN

Patients are advised to arrive early and bring any previous records, prescriptions, laboratory/imaging results, and referral forms, if available.

For proper guidance, kindly coordinate with the BMC Out-Patient Department.
