π¨π₯ NUTRITION IN EMERGENCIES RESPONSE | BARANGAY SABANG π₯π¨
Amid the heavy rainfall experienced for the past few days due to typhoon and habagat on August 8, 2026, the Municipal Health Office β Nutrition Program of Naic, Cavite conducted a Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) response at Verdant Elementary School, which served as a temporary evacuation center for six (6) families from Barangay Sabang.
Recognizing the importance of protecting the nutritional well-being of children and mothers during emergencies, the team provided essential nutrition and health services, including:
πΆ MUAC Assessment for children 6β59 months old to identify children who may be at risk of acute malnutrition
π Vitamin A Supplementation for eligible children
π€± Health Education on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) during emergencies
π§Ό Proper Handwashing and Hygiene Promotion
π± Distribution of Ready-to-Eat Food Packs for children
πͺ Distribution of Lactating Cookies to support breastfeeding mothers
The activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Municipal Health Office β Nutrition Program, led by Ms. Gee-Anne Buenaflor, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, together with Ms. May Cordora, Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator, and Mr. Manuel Alfonso, Rural Health Midwife, in partnership with Ms. Myrna Redota, Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Sabang, and the dedicated Barangay Health Workers of Barangay Sabang.
π In times of emergencies, nutrition remains a priority. Through timely assessment, appropriate nutrition interventions, health education, and support for mothers and children, we continue to ensure that no family is left behind.
