An esthetic restoration for a chipped tooth repairs its appearance and function. Treatments range from dental bonding for minor chips to veneers or crowns for larger damage.

The goal is to seamlessly blend the repair with your surrounding teeth so your smile looks natural and flawless.

The best esthetic approach depends on the size of the chip and the tooth's structural integrity-

Dental Bonding: Best for minor chips. Your dentist applies a tooth-colored composite resin, molds it to match your natural tooth, and hardens it with a curing light. It is fast, affordable, and requires no enamel removal.

Porcelain Veneers: Best for chipped front teeth. Custom-made, ultra-thin shells are permanently bonded to the front of the tooth. They are highly stain-resistant and provide an excellent, long-lasting cosmetic match.

Dental Crowns: Best for large chips or teeth with significant structural damage. A crown caps the entire visible part of the tooth, protecting it from further damage while restoring its shape and aesthetic appeal.

For this case, a dental bonding is used for a less invasive but very good esthetic results.

Attrition (tooth-to-tooth wear) is accelerated by an edge-to-edge bite, where upper and lower front teeth meet directly on their tips instead of slightly overlapping. This constant rubbing flattens edges, exposes sensitive dentin, and increases the risk of chipping or gum recession.

Treatment for this case:
For the upper central incisors that have already suffered enamel loss, we have used dental bonding-- direct composite restoration, to rebuild the lost tooth structure and protect the underlying dentin.

Bimaxillary protrusion with crowding occurs when both the upper and lower teeth are flared forward and there isn't enough space in the jaw, leading to overlapping.

This causes a convex facial profile, protrusive lips, and difficulty closing the mouth comfortably.

To relieve the crowding and pull the teeth and lips back into a harmonious position, these TREATMENT APPROACHES are used in this case:

•Tooth Extraction: This is the most common approach. Removing specific teeth (first premolars) creates the necessary space to retract the front teeth and improve facial aesthetics.

•Orthodontic Miniscrews (TADs): Temporary Anchorage Devices are often used alongside braces to push or pull teeth into the correct position without relying on other teeth for leverage.

Dental attrition is the loss of tooth structure on biting surfaces caused by tooth-to-tooth contact, commonly occurring as a natural part of aging.

It is primarily caused by parafunctional habits like
•bruxism (grinding/clenching)
•bite misalignment
•abrasive diet

Symptoms include flattened, shorter teeth, tooth sensitivity, and, if left untreated, pulp exposure, pain, and dental fractures.

Dental abrasion is the physical wear of tooth structure caused by foreign objects, typically resulting in V-shaped notches near the gum line.

Common causes include
•over-aggressive brushing
•abrasive toothpaste
•habits like biting nails

Treatments include composite bonding, veneers, or crowns to restore structure and protect against sensitivity.

For this case, composite restoration is our patient's choice.

When was the last time you had your dental cleaning? 🤔💭

A dental cleaning is a routine professional procedure that removes plaque, tartar, and bacteria from teeth to prevent gum disease and decay.

Performed by a dentist, it typically involves ultrasonic scaling, hand scaling, polishing, and flossing, often finishing with a fluoride treatment, usually required every six months.
