Today’s reminder: yoga isn’t about perfect poses — it’s about the balance between effort and ease.

When the body is working,
the breath is flowing,

that’s yoga 🧘‍♀️

What we see online can be beautiful and inspiring,
but yoga isn’t limited to advanced postures. You don’t need deep backbends or handstands to begin. You don’t need to be flexible or strong. We begin where our unique bodies are — and that’s exactly where the practice truly starts.

Yoga + Sound Healing Collaboration ✨

A 1.5-hour session that combined gentle yoga and sound healing — designed to ease tension, calm the mind, and restore balance.

The first half focused on soft, mindful stretches to release tightness in the body and improve circulation. The second half offered deep rest through the soothing sounds of healing instruments, helping participants slow down, clear mental clutter, and reconnect with a sense of inner peace.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this evening of movement, stillness, and sound — with gentle yoga guided by me (Nica) and sound healing by Chan Escobar. 🧘‍♀️

In a world of constant pings, scrolls, and endless notifications, our minds can feel scattered and restless. Today’s practice was about creating clarity. Through grounding poses that brought our foreheads to the earth, we gave our busy minds a chance to quiet down and return to stillness.

First official yoga class at East Raya Gardens, finally ✨

In this session, we opened our hearts, both physically and emotionally, through chest-opening poses and mindfulness practice. With everything happening around us, the news about corruption and ongoing protests, it’s easy to feel stressed or fall into anger and negativity.

My hope is that this practice helps us cultivate compassion: for ourselves, our loved ones, our community, and even for those we don’t personally know ❤️

Loving-kindness is a powerful antidote to anger, hatred, and indifference—and together we can nurture it, on and off the mat.

I can still hear the sound of the Ganga River just a couple of feet away from my yoga mat. The fine white sand of the beach is sticking to the mat, and we had to put water bottles on top so the mat wouldn’t fly away with the wind. In the middle of the yoga session, there was a dog wandering around, as we continued flowing through Vinyasa poses. At one point, I was up in the air as Sara, my friend and teacher, lifted me off my feet. It was amazing! This was just one of the excursions we did during my teacher training in Rishikesh, India 🇮🇳 video credit to 📸

Take a look at my first day of yoga teacher training at the World’s Capital of Yoga in India - Rishikesh! 🇮🇳 The center sits beside the spiritual Ganges river at the foothill of Himalayas.

I took my teacher training last September 2024 and owe a debt of gratitude to (the training school) and .yoga (my yoga mentor/friend and inspiration) for letting me in on one of the most memorable & profound experiences of my life ❤️🧘‍♀️

✨ Two years ago, I had zero meditation experience and zero yoga experience. ✨

But one random decision changed everything.

I attended a 4-day meditation retreat in a rainforest in Laguna. With the wind howling and the rain falling on the roof, we gathered in one big circle, sitting on soft cushions, eyes closed, observing the breath for 6 hours a day.

Just trying to feel the air in my nostrils going in, then going out.

This simple practice changed my whole life.

735 days later, I am still meditating. I haven’t missed a single day (see my streak on Insight Timer!). Words are not enough to explain the calmness of mind and tranquility that I’ve felt and am still feeling. Words are not enough to express the freeing wisdom I’ve gained through this practice.

During the retreat, I was introduced to yoga. Yoga is essentially moving meditation — syncing the breath with each movement.

I was so hooked that last year, I flew to Rishikesh, India, the birthplace of yoga, to learn from the original masters themselves.

So here I am now, ready to share everything I’ve learned with you.

My mission is simple: to spread yoga and meditation so the world becomes a better place. 🌿🧘‍♀️
