GUGMA in Action for the Healthiest Capisnons, 77th Deployment: Bringing Healthcare Closer to Barangay Malag-it, Pontevedra, Capiz

The flagship GUGMA Medical–Dental Outreach Program of Gov. Fredenil H. Castro continues its mission of bringing essential healthcare closer to every Capisnon.

For this deployment, GUGMA was conducted in partnership with the Office of Senator Risa Hontiveros, further strengthening our shared commitment to bringing healthcare closer to our communities.

The 77th deployment was a success, made possible through the collaboration of the Capiz Provincial Health Office, our local government partners, barangay officials and the Office of Senator Risa Hontiveros.

As the Provincial Health Officer of Capiz, I am proud to lead and support this continuing effort to Reach Every Barangay—because healthcare should not wait for people to come to us; we bring it closer to where they live.

Together, under the leadership of Gov. Fredenil H. Castro and with our partners, we continue working toward our shared vision of the Healthiest Capisnons!

2026 8th Provincial Health Board Meeting

On behalf of PHB Chairman Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, I had the honor of presiding over the 8th Provincial Health Board (PHB) Meeting as Vice Chairperson of the Capiz Province-wide Health System.

Together with our PHB members, we deliberated and acted on key policy and program priorities, including:

• Provincial Notifiable Diseases Case Bulletin — Fiel Patricio
• Tuberculosis Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA) Accomplishment for the National TB Program — Charmaine Quimpo
• Provincial XDP Task Force Resolution endorsing and advocating for the establishment and development of an appropriate PhilHealth benefit package for XDP patients — Christina Señosa
• Draft Resolution adopting and institutionalizing a unified province-wide, community-based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) Framework in the Province of Capiz
• Policy Review and Strengthening of MADAC/CADAC Governance, Structure and Functions in the Province of Capiz — Iav Jury Rocamora
• 2025 LGU Health Scorecard and Local Health Systems Maturity Level (LHSML) Results — Maria Althea Jolo

Other Matters:

• PHB Resolution adopting the Draft Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution amending Resolution No. 065, Series of 2022 — Maria Jhoana Rose Oro
• PHB Resolution amending the ordinance from “Capiz PHO Wellness Center” to “Capiz Wellness Center”

These initiatives reaffirm our collective commitment to strengthening health governance, improving health service and advancing our shared vision of achieving the Healthiest Capisnons!

Together, with strong leadership and collective action, we continue to move Capiz toward a healthier future.

GUGMA in Action for the Healthiest Capisnons: 140 CHVs from Capiz Receive Service Risk Incentives

“Dugay ko na kamo gina-hangaan nga mga BHW. Amo ina nga gina-tinguhaan ko gid nga magtaas ang inyo incentives.” — Gov. Fredenil H. Castro

These words reflect how much our Community Health Volunteers (CHV’s) are valued in our primary healthcare system. As the Provincial Health Officer of Capiz, I sincerely thank Gov. Fredenil H. Castro for his continued support and for providing ₱8,000 in annual incentives to our CHVs. This is a meaningful recognition of their dedication, sacrifice and invaluable service to our communities.

Today’s release also included the ₱4,000 honoraria for CHV’s who were unable to receive their incentives during the previous distribution two months ago due to being late, absent, or sick. We are grateful that this support continues to reach our health frontliners who remain committed to serving our barangays.

To all our CHV’s (BHWs, BNS & BSPO’s) thank you for being an essential part of our healthcare system and for bringing health services closer to every Capisnon. Your service matters, your dedication is valued and together, we continue working toward the Healthiest Capisnons!
