🚨 PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY: What is Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP)? 🚨PSP is a severe, life-threatening illness caused by eating shellfish contaminated with toxic marine algae (often associated with Red Tide).

⚠️ Key Things You Need to Know:

Eating toxic mussels, clams, oysters, or scallops. Cooking, freezing, or steaming will not destroy the toxin!

🛑🛑Symptoms🛑🛑 Onset occurs within 30 to 60 minutes. Watch out for tingling/numbness around the mouth, face, and limbs, followed by dizziness, weakness, and difficulty breathing.

Do not harvest or consume shellfish from banned or unmonitored areas! Seek immediate medical emergency care if you show symptoms after eating seafood.

Sa panahon ngayon kung saan patuloy ang paglitaw ng mga emerging diseases, mahalagang maging aware at informed ang bawat isa. Layunin ng advisory na ito na magbigay ng tamang impormasyon tungkol sa Nipah virus — paano ito kumakalat, ano ang mga posibleng sintomas, at anu-ano ang mga paraan upang maprotektahan ang ating sarili at komunidad.

ADVISORY

NOT ALL INFLUENZA-LIKE-ILLNESS (ILI) ARE SUPER FLU. Super flu is a term used to describe the fast-spreading influenza virus which was affected by either influenza, covid or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), causing intense symptoms and longer recovery period. As stated by DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa when asked about super flu, he said "It is not alarming but there is a new variant out there", he further explained that flu is a self-limiting illness and can be prevented by receiving flu vaccine.
