Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease contracted through the urine of infected animals entering the body through skin cuts, abrasions, or open wounds and through the mucous membranes.
The rainy season we are currently experiencing is associated with the increase in the number of leptospirosis cases. Being exposed to flood waters may carry the risk of contracting leptospirosis. The Department of Health (DOH) has already declared a leptospirosis outbreak in 28 barangays in Metro Manila.
If you have been exposed, waded through flood, or accidentally ingested flood water and suspect that you may have been infected, consult your doctor immediately.
DOXYCYCLINE IS NOT AN OVER-THE-COUNTER (OTC) DRUG AND REQUIRES A PRESCRIPTION BEFORE INTAKE. AVOID SELF-MEDICATING AND BEWARE OF THE DO'S AND DON’T'S WHEN TAKING DOXYCYCLINE.

Ang leptospirosis ay impeksyong dulot ng bakterya na maaaring makuha mula sa ihi ng hayop na may impeksyon na pumapasok sa katawan ng tao sa pamamagitan ng gasgas o sugat at sa ilong o bibig.
Ngayong panahon ng tag-ulan, tumataas din ang mga kaso ng leptospirosis dahil sa pagbabaha. Idineklara na ng Department of Health (DOH) ang leptospirosis outbreak sa 28 na barangay sa Metro Manila.
Kung ikaw ay lumusong sa baha o aksidenteng nakainom ng tubig baha at nangangambang may leptospirosis, kumunsulta agad sa doktor.
