As the Christmas season ends today with the Baptism of Jesus, which signals the start of His 3-year public ministry, we ponder on some of the challenges we hurdled in 2018 and our mission in 2019.
1. In early September, we inadvertently discovered someone had copied our name and our logo. By the time we did, he was already building his second or third branch just after opening the first one in June 2018. The discovery was made after we received applications for therapists at the time we were not hiring, and we received a call from a leasing manager of a ubiquitous mall offering us space. He heeded the demand and saved both of us the expense and inconvenience of litigation.
2. Sometime in October, a female student from went to the spa to DEMAND an assurance from our proprietor, who graduated from the same college in 1997, passed the Bar given in the same year and has made a living out of litigation for over 20 years, that the latter will not “cause trouble for her at UP Law”. This, after the latter earlier told the student that she is mulling filing a case for Dishonesty against her for claiming and insisting with the therapists in two instances that she was already entitled to a free massage when spa records show she was not. She left the spa without the assurance but with an advise to pray that our proprietor is fair and reasonable.
3. In 2018, we took a chance on therapists who ended up leaving without notice or being let go for cause. We also bade farewell to two therapists who had been with the spa for over two years.
4. The day after Christmas, two of our therapists were held up at gunpoint by a man on a motorcycle past 9pm in front of Molave. They were walking home toward Ylanan because no more jeeps were plying the campus. Their bags were taken as well as their sense of security in UP.
5. We continue to look for therapists who need work with a decent compensation and have a genuine desire to serve with competence and professionalism.
6. We continue to honor and glorify God through our work and pray for His blessing, guidance and protection for all.
7. May He protect every Filipino from evil and bless all commuters with efficient and adequate public transportation.
Btw, beginning tomorrow, January 14, 2019, the spa will operate from 12pm-10pm daily. To avoid overlapping of clients and any miscommunication, we will also attend to clients on a first come first served basis.
