Our patient had a good bridge height but we wanted to improve tip height and tip shape. We used ear cartilage for the tip and a combination of septal cartilage and PCL mesh for tip projection. A thin goretex implant placed on the radix to connect the bridge to tip ratio.
In rhinoplasty, the bridge-to-tip ratio refers to the visual balance between the height and prominence of the nasal dorsum (bridge) and the nasal tip. There is no single fixed ratio, but achieving harmony between these two structures is one of the keys to a natural result. In many aesthetically pleasing noses, especially in Asian rhinoplasty, the nasal tip is projected slightly more than the bridge. This creates a smooth, elegant profile rather than a flat or “operated” appearance.
The ideal bridge-to-tip relationship depends on facial proportions, skin thickness, ethnicity, and the patient’s aesthetic goals. Ultimately, the bridge and tip should complement each other rather than be considered as independent features. A balanced relationship generally produces a more refined and natural-looking nose.
