In preparation for the upcoming 𝙎𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙖 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖, the 𝐃𝐎𝐇 IV A 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦, together with the 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐧, conducted a site visit to one of the most visited tourist destinations in 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 last March 6, 2026.

The activity aimed to check the 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 in anticipation of the expected influx of visitors and hikers during the holiday. Discussions focused on safety measures and interventions to help prevent 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲, 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝗱𝗲𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and other possible health risks for tourists and hiking enthusiasts.

Various agencies are working hand in hand to ensure a safe and well-coordinated response in case of emergencies. These include the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 (𝐃𝐎𝐓), 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 (𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐑), 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 (𝐃𝐎𝐇), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌𝐂, demonstrating a strong commitment to public safety during the holiday season.

The 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐇𝐃 𝐈𝐕-𝐀 also distributed 𝑰𝑬𝑪 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒔 and provided 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 to tourism staff and tourist guides. Reporting and referral mechanisms were likewise discussed to strengthen the collection of data on injury-related cases.

Through collaboration and preparedness, we aim to ensure that everyone can enjoy a 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 🙏🌿⛰️

The Department of Health Center for Health Development CaLaBaRZon Health in Tourism Program—Non Communicable Disease Cluster (DOH CHD4A HiT—NCD) conducted a Courtesy call to the Coast Guard Vice Admiral Joseph M Coyme of the Philippine Coast Guard Maritime Safety Services Command (PCG-MSSC) and discussed the existing Memorandum of Agreement between the DOH4A, PCG, and DOT4A and the implementation, accomplishments, and upcoming activities of the Health in Tourism Program in the CaLaBaRZon region with the Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine Program (TCAM).

The meeting between the DOH HiT Program and PCG-MSSC served as a platform for reaffirming the partnership and reiterating the shared vision of promoting health and safety in all tourist destinations. By working hand in hand, both agencies aim to create a more resilient and sustainable tourism industry that prioritizes the well-being of both visitors and host communities in the CaLaBaRZon region.

𝐃𝐎𝐓 𝐈𝐕-𝐀 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋 𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐘: 𝐓𝐀𝐀𝐋 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎 𝐔𝐍𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓

Due to the ongoing unrest of the Taal Volcano, we advise all travelers to reconsider their plans to visit the areas near Taal Volcano.

The Taal Volcano has been releasing volcanic smog, also known as vog, which has led to health concerns and disruptions in these areas. The Department of Health has issued warnings for residents near the Taal Volcano, especially those with respiratory and heart illnesses, the elderly, pregnant women, and children.

Entry into Taal Volcano Island (Permanent Danger Zone or PDZ), especially the Main Crater and Daang Kastila fissures; occupancy and boating on Taal Lake are subject to Advisory from respective Local DRRM. Civil aviation authorities have also been informed that flying any aircraft close to the volcano is not allowed.

Travelers are advised to stay indoors, shut doors and windows, use N95 face masks, and seek medical help if needed. We recommend that all travelers stay updated on the situation through reliable news sources and consider alternative destinations for their safety and well-being.

Orientation on the Philippine Health Tourism Program

Ang Health Promotion Strategy 2030 nagmando sa pagpalapad sa health promotion sa Pilipinas alang sa pagpatuman sa usa ka Healthy Pilipinas. Busa, ang Department of Health - Davao Center for Health Development (DOH-DCHD) nagpahigayon og duha kaadlaw nga Orientation sa Philippine Health Tourism Program, August 23-24, 2023, sa Apo View Hotel, Davao City.

Ang Health Tourism Program usa ka pamaagi aron mahiusa ang Provincial Health Officers, Health Education and Promotion Officers, ug Tourism Focal Persons gikan sa nagkalain-laing Local Government Units ug ubang ahensya sa gobyerno sulod sa Davao Region, aron makamugna og positive experience sa mga travelers samtang gipanalipdan ang palibot. Ang paghatag og gibug-aton sa health sa tourism dili lamang responsable apan hinungdanon usab aron magarantiya nga ang tourism magpadayon sa pag-uswag taliwala sa mga kalisdanan.

Tumong niini aron masiguro ang sustainable mechanism para sa early access sa life saving response, drugs, technologies ug facilities sa network sa health provider sa Tourism Related Establishments (TREs).

Gitambungan ang maong aktibidad sa nagkadaiyang personahe gikan sa DOH Davao Region sa pagpanguna ni Assistant Regional Director Dr. Gerna M. Manatad, kauban ang Provincial DOH Office (PDOHO) Davao Oriental nga si Dr. Gracita Berguia, Provincial Health Team Leader (PHTL), Davao Occidental nga si Dr. Anthony Araneta, PHTL, Provincial Health Office (PHO) Davao Oriental nga si Dr. Reden Bersaldo, PHO II, ug uban pang representante gikan sa Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, ug CHO, uban sab sa mga pipila ka LGUs gikan sa Davao Region.
