Founded in 1988, the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation ( a Charity Vision Int'l affiliate) has provided thousands of free and subsidized operations every year to correct medical conditions such as cataracts, crossed eyes, cleft lip and palate, clubfeet, and limb loss in need of prosthesis, for individuals without means. The word 'deseret' comes from the ancient word for honeybee and represents the philos

ophy of the foundation. At Mabuhay Deseret, Filipino doctors volunteer their time, local hospitals provide substantial discounts on the use of their facilities and patients and their family members contribute by cooking and cleaning during their stay in our Recuperative Houses. By working together with members of the community, the Foundation is able to perform dramatic, life-changing surgery for thousands of Filipinos every year.

We envision a community who works together to care for individuals with disfigurations and other debilitating conditions. MISSION
Our mission is to find patients within our scope, maintain recovery houses, and partner with local doctors and hospitals to facilitate life-changing surgeries and procedures for those without means including: cleft surgeries to restore dignity, eye surgeries to restore independence, clubfoot correction and prosthetic legs to restore mobility. Goals
GOALS
- Facilitate at least 4000 surgeries/procedures per year.
- Perform 3 outreach missions per year for underserved populations.
- Foster Relationships with local government units, hospitals, and doctors through
regular contact.
- Maintain permanent care houses for patient recovery in each of the 3 regions in the
Philippines.
- Screen at least 10,000 potential patients per year.

For some individuals and families, access to the right medical care can mean the opportunity to see more clearly, move more freely, and live with greater independence and confidence.

Mabuhay Deseret Foundation helps find and connect qualified patients in need of assistance for cleft lip and palate, clubfoot, below-knee limb loss requiring prosthetic support, cataracts, crossed eyes, and other qualifying eye conditions.

Through our network of partner doctors, hospitals, volunteers, and communities, we work to help make life-changing care accessible to those without the means.

Through the Dumaguete Eyeglasses Dispensing Activity, we connected with students and communities to bring the gift of clearer vision to those who need it most.

A pair of glasses may seem simple, but for a student, it can mean seeing the board more clearly, reading lessons with greater ease, learning with confidence, and having a better opportunity to reach their full potential.

Meet Jeanette. 👁️

This August Sight-Saving Month, we share Jeanette’s story—a story of losing sight, holding on to hope, and finally seeing a brighter tomorrow.

Jeanette had been living with cataracts since around 2019. Over the years, her vision continued to worsen until both of her eyes became blurry. There came a time when she could barely see and needed to be guided wherever she went.

But her story changed when Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, together with our generous partners, volunteers, and medical professionals from Fatima University Medical Center, helped make her cataract surgery possible.

Today, Jeanette can see again. Her gratitude is a beautiful reminder that restoring sight means restoring independence, hope, and the ability to experience life more fully. 🙏

A wonderful surprise and a meaningful reunion! 💛🐝

We were honored to welcome Grant and Susan Pace, whose unwavering support and leadership played an important role during the early years of Mabuhay Deseret Foundation. Their visit brought back cherished memories of how far we've come and the many lives that have been transformed through compassion and service.

It was also a pleasure to have Mike Johnson join the visit, making this gathering even more special as we reflected on our shared mission and looked forward to the future.

Our PaAgosto Mission is in full swing, and while fitting patients is the moment many get to see, countless hours of preparation happen behind the scenes. From creating plaster molds and modifying casts to carefully shaping each prosthetic socket, every step is done with one goal in mind—to help someone walk toward a better future.
