As part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Lorma Cancer Institute successfully held a Prostate Cancer Awareness Lay Forum today — welcoming 95 participants from the City of San Fernando BFP, Barangay Officials of Lingsat and Carlatan, Lorma Medical Center, Lorma Colleges, Lorma Cancer Institute, and its patients.
Formally opening the Prostate Cancer Awareness Lay Forum was Dr. Emily Joy A. Gacad, Executive Director for Human Resource, Marketing, General Services, Engineering and Maintenance, and Customer Experience of Lorma Medical Center, who graced the occasion with her opening remarks.
Our resource speaker, Dr. John Paul R. Tadifa, is a board-certified Urologist and Urologic Oncologist trained at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) — the country's leading referral center for renal, urologic, and transplant care. Dr. Tadifa obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Santo Tomas and completed both his Urology Residency and Urologic Oncology Fellowship at NKTI. His advanced training further includes robotic surgery certification at IRCAD Taiwan and robotic urologic surgery exposure at Chinese General Hospital. He is a Fellow of both the Philippine Urological Association and the Philippine Society of Urologic Oncologists.
Dr. Tadifa led an insightful discussion on the signs and symptoms, risk factors, screening, early detection, and treatment options for prostate cancer — reminding us all that early diagnosis saves lives.
The session also featured a lively Q&A, helping participants take charge of their prostate health with confidence.
The forum was concluded with the closing remarks delivered by Ms. Gladys Tadifa, Manager of Lorma Cancer Institute.
Together, let's keep raising awareness and fighting cancer — one community at a time.
