Recently, I got to join in a medical mission for the elderly at a home for the aged as a moonlighter physician. This was at Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly in San Juan, Manila.

I learned that most were in their 70s-80s, and one was 2 years shy away from 100 (98 y/o). To top it off, they were all still sharp-witted.

On probing what they used to do for work before, some were university professors and business owners. Basically, high-powered women back in the day.

Tinanong ko yung isa, "Lola, bakit po? Wala po bang pumasa?"

Lola: Wala *sabay tawa*.

On another note, the institution could also benefit from assistance, especially medicines, to help in supporting and caring for the lolas living there.
