Pursuant to WVSGH Personnel Order No. 2026-018 and the Department of Health Department Personnel Order (DPO) No. 2026-2345, the staff of the Western Visayas Sanitarium and General Hospital – Toxicology Specialty Center (WVSGH-TSC), namely Dr. Armie S. Gutierrez, Clinical Toxicologist

Ms. Sheila May Sobretodo, Medical Technologist I / Toxicology Analyst, attended the Consultative Workshop on the Finalization of the Occupational Health Services Manual of Operations and Training Modules conducted by the and the on May 5–7, 2026 in Negros Island Region.

The activity gathered various healthcare professionals and stakeholders to collaboratively strengthen occupational health systems, enhance workforce safety initiatives, and contribute to the development and finalization of national occupational health service guidelines and training frameworks.

Dr. Gutierrez with Congresswoman Goriceta and the Chiefs of Hospital

Dr. Gutierrez, together with Congresswoman Goriceta and the Chiefs of Hospital(fellow IDCM grad), is working to strengthen the linkages with district hospitals for the effective management and referral of toxicology patients. This initiative is made possible through the support and commitment of Congresswoman Goriceta, representing the Second District of Iloilo, in strengthening healthcare services and expanding access to specialized toxicology care across the region.

Strengthening partnerships for improved healthcare delivery — USEC Maestral, RD Yumang, and Dr. Gutierrez graced the inauguration of the WVSGH BUCAS Center. The event highlighted the importance of linkages and collaboration to enhance the establishment of a Toxicology Specialty Center and the efficient management of patients requiring specialized care.

The initiative also envisions the development of a Regional Laboratory equipped with toxicology testing capabilities, ensuring better diagnostic support and comprehensive treatment for patients across the region.
