May 7 is the celebration of National Health Workers’ Day (RA 10069), we honor the dedication of our medical professionals. However, recognition must be backed by policy.

To truly support our workforce and prevent the exodus of our healthcare talent, we must prioritize their welfare. We call on our leaders and legislators to amend and strengthen the Magna Carta of Public Health Workers.

Our health workers deserve more than thanks—they deserve dignity and just compensation. 🏥⚖️

Health workers from both public and private hospitals in the NCR, Baguio and Bacolod will mark National Health Workers Day 2026 as protest tomorrow to highlight the continuing struggles they face in their respective hospitals and health facilities across the country. They are united in their demands for living wages, job security, the timely release of owed benefits, and free health services for the people, amid worsening economic and health crises affecting both health workers and the public.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10069, National Health Workers Day is observed every May 7, a recognition that was itself won through the struggle of health workers. However, despite this acknowledgment, it remains evident that their conditions continue to be dire.
