Bringing PhilHealth YAKAP Closer to the Community 💚

San Juan PCF personnel conducted a Purok-to-Purok Fixed Post as part of the PhilHealth YAKAP Caravan, bringing essential healthcare information and services closer to our community members.

Through this initiative, residents were given the opportunity to learn more about the YAKAP program, access health services, and receive guidance on available PhilHealth benefits—right within their own purok.

HEALTH CARE WASTE MANAGEMENT TRAINING | SAN JUAN PRIMARY CARE FACILITY 🏥♻️

San Juan Primary Care Facility successfully conducted a Health Care Waste Management Training facilitated by Maam Joyce Bagtaso, providing our health care workers and staff with valuable knowledge and practical guidance on the proper and safe management of health care waste. 💚

The activity served as an important opportunity to strengthen our commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and environmentally responsible health facility. Throughout the training, participants were oriented on the proper handling, segregation, collection, storage, transport, treatment, and disposal of health care waste in accordance with established health care waste management practices.

📚 The discussion emphasized that proper waste management is not only about keeping our surroundings clean—it is also a vital component of infection prevention and control, occupational safety, environmental protection, and patient safety. Every health worker has an important role in ensuring that health care waste is properly identified, segregated, handled, and disposed of from the point of generation until its final treatment or disposal.

♻️ Participants were also reminded of the importance of proper waste segregation at source, using the appropriate containers and labels, observing safe practices when handling potentially infectious and hazardous materials, and ensuring that waste is properly prepared for collection and transport. These practices help minimize the risk of injuries, infections, exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental contamination.

💡 The training also highlighted different treatment methods for health care waste, as well as the importance of appropriate transportation and safe handling procedures. Through these discussions, our team gained a better understanding of how proper waste management contributes to a safer workplace and better quality of health care services.
