Skin-to-skin contact with a father during the “golden hour” (the first hour after birth) triggers a massive 176% surge in a newborn’s oxytocin levels. This flood of the “love hormone” acts as a powerful biological buffer against the physical trauma of delivery, instantly regulating the infant’s heart rate, breathing, and temperature. By stepping into this role, a father provides a safe, calming sensory environment through his heartbeat and skin temperature, which significantly reduces the baby’s circulating stress hormones, and dad becomes the baby’s first sanctuary outside of mom.

As a direct result of this hormonal stabilization, infants experience profound behavioral benefits, crying 43% less and sleeping twice as long during their first 24 hours of life. This initial period of deep, restorative rest is crucial for early brain development and physical recovery. Ultimately, this single moment of paternal bonding does more than just soothe a newborn; it helps program the infant’s nervous system, permanently shaping how the child perceives safety and manages stress well into the future.

Check out the comments section for references as well as the full physiological benefits for the newborn, and the full psychological and hormonal benefits for the father.

📢 RESPONSIBLE INFORMATION SHARING DURING MASS TRAGEDIES

A Quick Reference Guide for Media Practitioners and the General Public

In the aftermath of a tragedy, how information is shared can either support community recovery or unintentionally worsen trauma and trigger violence contagion.

Newsrooms set the narrative, but every social media user controls its spread.

The Psychological Association of the Philippines - Clinical Psychology Division shares this Quick Reference Guide to help foster safety, responsibility, and trauma-informed communication across all platforms.

🧠 QUICK TAKEAWAYS:

🚫 Deny Perpetrators Infamy: Limit names, photos, and manifestos to prevent the contagion effect.

🧩 Look at Systemic Causes: Focus on structural gaps rather than single, oversimplified motives.

🛡️ Protect Survivors: Honor human dignity, practice informed consent, and respect privacy.

💚 Highlight Recovery & Support: Amplify crisis helplines, support services, and community resilience.

We need to know!!!

We need to know!!!

We extend our concern to those who were directly affected, including the families of those who lost their lives and those who continue to recover. We hope they are met with safety, care, and compassion in the days ahead.

In responding to school violence, our focus must extend beyond the immediate incident - and beyond blame.

School violence is complex. There is rarely one cause, one explanation, or one solution. Prevention is a shared responsibility—across families, schools, communities, mental health professionals, child protection systems, institutions, and policymakers.

Prevention means strengthening protection, recognizing concerns early, supporting young people, building safer environments, and responding responsibly when violence occurs.

Our responsibility also extends to how we respond and what we share. In moments of tragedy, pause before posting or forwarding. Avoid sharing graphic photos or videos, unverified information, rumors, or speculation. Protect the privacy and dignity of students, families, and communities affected.

What we share can either contribute to further distress or help create a safer, more respectful space for recovery.

We invite everyone to read the Psychological Association of the Philippines’ full statement:

“School Violence: Understanding Risk, Prevention, and Well-Being Among Children and Adolescents.”

Women who eat eggs during their pregnancy give birth to babies with stronger memory, faster learning ability and healthier brain development their entire first year of life due to their rich content of nutrients like choline, which is crucial for brain and memory function.

To elaborate, eggs are an exceptional source of choline, a nutrient vital for building the cell membranes of the brain. It is also essential for producing acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter critical for memory and learning. Maternal choline intake can influence the infant’s epigenetics, which are changes that affect how genes are expressed, having long-term effects on cognitive development.

Eggs also provide a complete package of nutrients, including protein, fatty acids, and vitamins, that are more readily absorbed and metabolized than single-nutrient supplements. These nutrients work together to support overall fetal growth and brain development.

Studies have also shown that prenatal yolk intake can increase functional activation in the hippocampus and cerebellum which are key areas for memory and motor control. Maternal egg intake during pregnancy has also been linked to positive behavioral outcomes in offspring, suggesting a link between maternal diets and the baby’s neurodevelopment.

See PMID: 30332538 and also check out the comments for even more benefits of eating eggs regularly during pregnancy as well as references for all of this information❤️
