"An panbakuna han bata is protection, diri kita nagsisiring nga kun mabakunahan diri na hiya matatapnan han sakit. An aton nga mabakunahan para ma-proteksyonan han ka grabe han sakit," pahayag ni Mel Tirso G. Maravilles, han City Health Office.

Kun nababaraka o may pakiana kabahin han bakuna, ayaw pag-alang pagdaop ha iyo Barangay Health Workers para masayod ngan diri magin biktima han fake news.

Today, we proudly celebrate World Immunization Week 2026 with a successful activity led by the Sagkahan District Health Center’s nurse supervisor, midwives, DOH-HRH and BHW’s at Brgy. 110 Utap Health Station. 💉✨

A total of 24 babies were safely vaccinated, giving them stronger protection against preventable diseases and a healthier start in life. This milestone reflects the dedication of our healthcare workers and the cooperation of parents who continue to prioritize their children’s well-being.

Let’s continue to support immunization efforts in our community—because every child deserves a healthy future. 💙

📢In line with celebration of Women’s Month
the Sagkahan District Health center, came alive with warmth, celebration, and purpose as we hosted BUNTIS DAY: Traditional Roots and Innovation in Nurturing Mothers. This meaningful event was a collaborative effort between the Sagkahan District Health Center headed by Dr. Raquel Ngoho, Sir Mel-Tirso Marvilles the district health nurse, Edna De Vuyst and Marites Cinco our midwives, the DOH-HRH Claire and Nica, Tacloban City Health Office, SHIP, and other sponsors who had supported to make this event successful.

At the heart of BUNTIS DAY was a deep appreciation for pregnant women recognized as heroes who bring new life into the world. The event sought to honor their journey while creating a dedicated space for learning, dialogue, and empowerment. Through informative discussions, participants gained valuable insights into critical topics: the 1st 1000 days ni baby, Prenatal and recognizing danger signs during pregnancy, family planning options, Wellness check and Self care. These sessions blended evidence-based medical knowledge with practical guidance, equipping mothers-to-be with the tools they need for a safe and healthy pregnancy.


To cap off the event, all pregnant mothers in attendance received maternity kits tangible tokens of support that will assist them in their prenatal and postnatal care. These kits, paired with the knowledge and encouragement gained throughout the day, reflected the organizers’ commitment to nurturing both the health and well-being of mothers and their unborn children.

BUNTIS DAY 2026 was more than just an activity; it was a testament to the power of collaboration and community in supporting maternal health. By honoring traditional values of care while embracing innovative approaches to pregnancy and motherhood, the event left a lasting impact, reinforcing that every pregnant woman deserves recognition, support, and the best possible start on their journey to motherhood.

PuroKalusugan Launching Activity!

Today, Sagkahan District Health Center officially launched the PuroKalusugan in Barangay 59-A Sampaguita --a program initiated by the Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines to deliver essential healthcare services directly to communities at the purok, or neighborhood, level. Bringing healthcare services closer to residents. Purok Kalusugan seeks to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes .

This initiative is a partnership between the local government, through the City Health Office, the Department of Health, and HappyDocs Medical Clinic and Laboratory, aimed at providing accessible health care to underserved communities.

The program aligns with DOH's Eight Point Action agenda including:

🥗 Nutrition Program
🤰 Maternal Care and Family Planning Program
🎗️ Cancer Awarenes
🦠Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Awareness
🚦 Road Safety

This activity was conducted under the supervision of our City Health Officer -Dr. Jaime Opinion, Sagkahan District Supervisor -Maam Myla Garcia, with support from Sir Marvin Allen Guy-Joco of DOH Provincial Office for North Leyte, and Hon. Kenneth Mate -Brgy. Chairman of 59-A, whose unwavering support and commitment to community health made this initiative possible.

Special thanks to SAGKAHAN Staff, Midwives, HRH, SHIP, and also to our dedicated barangay health workers, local officials, and partners who made this possible. Together, we take one step forward toward a stronger, healthier Taclobanons!

In Observance of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2025

The Department of Health Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development through the National HIV, AIDS, and STI Prevention and Control Program in collaboration with Sustained Health Initiatives of the Philippines (SHIP) is committed to increasing awareness, promoting HIV testing, and linking individuals to vital care and support services.

FREE HIV Screening on May 21-23, 2025;
Candle-lighting ceremony on May 22,2025 from 8:00 am with free and confidential HIV screening at 4th Floor Janika Food Center, Downtown Tacloban City.

For those who will undergo HIV Screening will be provided also with:
Lunch, snacks, as well as condoms and lubricants.

We encourage you to invite your friends and peers to take part in this important activity.
