The HIV/AIDS Awareness Activity was successfully conducted at Sto. Niño District Health Center with the participation of SK Chairpersons and members from Brgys. 97, 98, 101, 102, 105, 106, 107, and 108, together with community residents. A total of 50 participants attended the activity.
The program started with opening remarks from Dr. Chenee Marthel Ty, Medical Officer, who emphasized the importance of HIV testing and encouraged everyone to “Know Your Status” through early testing and awareness.
The lecture on Basic Facts about HIV/AIDS was delivered by Mr. Thamacus Vallar, HIV/AIDS Counselor, who discussed HIV transmission, prevention, stigma reduction, and the importance of education in the community.
This was followed by Dr. Ray Louis Arcenas, Dentist II, who discussed Oral S*x and Basic Oral Health Care, highlighting the importance of maintaining oral hygiene and awareness regarding oral manifestations related to HIV.
Special thanks were also extended to Ms. Gemma Malate and Ms. Nicole Therese Salubon, Medical Technologists, for conducting HIV testing and blood testing services during the activity.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Alexander Guy, Nurse Supervisor of Sto. Niño and Kawayan District Health Center, who emphasized the importance of collaboration among SK officials, health workers, and the community in fighting stigma and spreading HIV/AIDS awareness.
The activity served as an important avenue in promoting education, awareness, early testing, and community involvement towards a healthier and stigma-free community.
