Bilang bahagi ng Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, isinagawa ng Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) Public Health Unit at Department of Pediatrics – Committee on Community Pediatrics, ang isang health education activity noong August 17, 2026 sa Ridge View Park Integrated School.

Tinalakay sa aktibidad ang mahahalagang usapin tungkol sa kalusugang pangkaisipan ng mga kabataan at paggamit ng v**e at masasamang epekto nito, upang maunawaan ng mga kabataan ang kahalagahan ng pangangalaga sa kanilang kalusugang pangkaisipan at ang mga panganib at masamang epekto ng va**ng sa kanilang kalusugan.

Nagbahagi ng kanilang kaalaman at expertise sina Dr. Rajami Malibago, na tumalakay sa Mental Health Among Adolescents, at Dr. Edmund Anthony Sumayod, na nagbigay-diin sa The Use of Va**ng and Its Ill-Effects—kapwa mula sa Department of Pediatrics ng EVMC.

Sa pamamagitan ng tamang impormasyon at bukas na talakayan, layunin ng aktibidad na matulungan ang mga kabataan na gumawa ng responsable at mas malusog na desisyon, makilala ang kahalagahan ng pag-aalaga sa kanilang mental well-being, at maiwasan ang mga gawaing maaaring makapinsala sa kanilang kalusugan. 💚

Dahil ang kabataang may sapat na kaalaman ay mas handang pangalagaan ang sarili at bumuo ng mas malusog na kinabukasan.

𝗘𝗩𝗠𝗖 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗝𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁

Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) welcomed the visiting delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for a project site visit at the hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD).

The activity began with a walkthrough survey of the OPD, led by OPD Head Dr. Johanna D. Macabare, giving the delegation a firsthand look at the facility, its service areas, and the delivery of outpatient healthcare services.

This was followed by a formal program attended by the JICA delegation, EVMC Executive Committee (EXECOM) members, and hospital representatives. Medical Center Chief Dr. Joseph Michael Jaro warmly welcomed the guests, highlighting the value of partnerships in advancing healthcare services and facilities.

The program also featured a presentation on EVMC: Context of the Organization” by Dr. Macabare, providing an overview of EVMC’s role as a major healthcare institution in Eastern Visayas and the broader context of its services.

A meaningful Open Forum and Interview followed, allowing both JICA and EVMC representatives to exchange insights on the hospital’s experiences, challenges, developments, and the continuing impact of development cooperation in healthcare.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Jenny Lind Lesiguez, who expressed appreciation for JICA’s visit and reaffirmed EVMC’s commitment to sustaining partnerships that contribute to better healthcare services for patients and communities.

More than a site visit, the activity served as a meaningful platform for dialogue, collaboration, and strengthening the enduring partnership between Japan and the Philippines toward improved and sustainable healthcare delivery.

Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC), spearheaded by the Public Health Unit (PHU), conducted the : Healthy Health Facility (HHF) Cadence Meeting on August 11, 2026, in Tacloban City.

The activity brought together hospital personnel to strengthen workplace health and wellness initiatives through discussions on workforce health, psychosocial well-being, occupational safety and health, community engagement, and stress and burnout prevention. It also provided an avenue to share insights, assess current practices, and identify strategies to further promote a healthier and safer working environment.

Through continued collaboration and shared commitment, EVMC moves closer to fostering a healthy, safe, and supportive workplace for all. 💚

Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC), in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH), conducted the Regional Stakeholders’ Consultation on the Adoption and Implementation of the EVMC General Guidelines on Patient Navigation and Referral System Towards Strengthening Health Care Provider Network Integration.

The consultation brought together Provincial Health Officers, City Health Officers, and Chiefs of Hospitals from various health facilities across Eastern Visayas to strengthen understanding and coordination on patient navigation, referral systems, and health care provider network integration.

The activity provided a venue to orient stakeholders on the EVMC General Guidelines, reflect on existing referral practices, identify challenges and opportunities, and develop practical actions for improved referral coordination. It also fostered dialogue, knowledge sharing, and stronger partnerships among participating institutions toward standardized, coordinated, and patient-centered referral services.

Through this collaborative effort, EVMC and its health partners reaffirm their shared commitment to stronger institutional partnerships, seamless referral coordination, and improved health service delivery throughout the region.

Another significant milestone for Eastern Visayas Medical Center! 💙
EVMC proudly marks a breakthrough in neurosurgical care with the successful first-ever excision of an Intramedullary Spinal Cord Tumor utilizing the newly acquired Innomed Intraoperative Neuromonitoring System of the Department of Neurosurgery.

The state-of-the-art system provided real-time neuromonitoring signals that guided the surgical team in determining the safest possible extent of tumor resection, helping protect critical neurological functions and ensuring the best possible surgical outcome for the patient.

This landmark procedure was led by Dr. John Peter Paiso, Main Surgeon, assisted by Dr Mae Anne Gelizon; Neuro-Anesthesiologist Dr. Glenn Chavez, assisted by Dr Rose Ann Perante, Dr Regine Sevilla; and Neuro Nurse Ms. Anabelle Basas.

The intraoperative neuromonitoring team was composed of Mr. Ronnie Abrenica, Dr. Khalil Ibaoc, and Neuro Nurses Ms. Shirlyn Tiopes, Ms. Michelle Cabriana, Mr. Juvanne Aquino.

Promoting healthy smiles starts at a young age! As part of its Adopt-a-School initiative, the Dental Department of Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) conducted a series of oral health activities at Bagacay Elementary School.

🦷 Dental Health Education and distribution of Oral Health Packages were conducted to equip learners with the knowledge and tools they need to care for their teeth and gums.

🪥 Learners participated in a Toothbrushing Drill, where they learned and practiced the proper way of brushing their teeth.

EVMC continues to bring health education closer to the community and help children build good oral hygiene habits that can last a lifetime. 💙
