MOBILE BLOOD DONATION | BRGY. POOK

Earlier today, September 18, 2026, Barangay Pook conducted a Mobile Blood Donation Activity at the Barangay Health Station, in support of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Program, in partnership with RHU Talisayan and the Philippine Red Cross – Gingoog Chapter.

RHU Talisayan extends its sincere appreciation to the Barangay Council of Pook, headed by Brgy. Chairman Hon. Felisa Lagutao, for their continued support and commitment to this life-saving program.

Most importantly, our heartfelt thank you to all the blood donors who generously shared their gift of life. Your selfless act of kindness can help provide hope and save lives.

3RD QUARTER LOCAL HEALTH BOARD MEETING | September 18, 2026

The Municipality of Talisayan successfully conducted its 3rd Quarter Local Health Board (LHB) Meeting today at the RHU Conference Hall, bringing together key local health and government stakeholders to discuss priority health programs and concerns.

The program was formally opened by Municipal Administrator Christian Bon Gonzales, followed by the roll call and confirmation of quorum by Dr. Gay B. Ardanas, Municipal Health Officer. The meeting proceeded with the reading and approval of the previous minutes and discussions on key agenda items, including:

✅School-Based Immunization updates
✅Dengue Report and reactivation of the Dengue Task Force
✅Proposed creation of health plantilla positions
✅MOPH-Talisayan current hospital status
✅MLDP Road Map
✅Barangay Health Board
✅Orientation on DOH Pharmacy Guidelines for Primary Care Facilities
✅Open Forum and updates on upcoming meetings and trainings

The activity was attended by RHU staff headed by Dr. Gay B. Ardanas, barangay chairpersons and representatives, the Municipal Administrator representing Mayor Ciriaco A. Talines, MOPH-Talisayan and DepEd Talisayan representatives, and other partner stakeholders.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from Marivic dela Fuente, MPM, DMO IV.

Through strengthened collaboration and shared commitment, we continue to work together for a healthier Municipality of Talisayan.

Strengthening Dengue Surveillance in Talisayan

Mr. Geo Suarez and Mr. Aldo Obenza from the Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental visited the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Talisayan to offer assistance and support in strengthening dengue surveillance in the municipality.

Their visit emphasizes the importance of collaboration in monitoring dengue cases, identifying trends, and strengthening local efforts for dengue prevention and control.

Strengthening Surveillance, Protecting Our Community!

Last September 2, as part of our ongoing disease surveillance efforts, the RHU Talisayan team conducted Nocturnal Blood Examination (NBE) for Filariasis in Barangay Puting Balas.

Alongside the blood examination, the team also conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) session to raise awareness among community members about Filariasis, its prevention, and the importance of early detection and cooperation in surveillance activities.

Through these efforts, we continue to work hand in hand with our communities in keeping Talisayan healthy and protected.

As part of the upcoming School-Based Immunization (SBI) Program, RHU staff conducted Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) sessions with parents in various schools to share accurate and reliable information about childhood immunization.

The discussions highlighted the importance, safety, and benefits of vaccines while providing parents with the opportunity to ask questions and address any concerns. By equipping families with the right knowledge, we strengthen our shared commitment to protecting every child from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Together, we can create healthier schools, stronger communities, and a brighter future for our children because every child deserves the protection that vaccines provide.

The Department of Health – Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (DOH CHD-NM) advises the public to take precautionary measures as haze is currently being monitored in parts of Northern Mindanao.

According to the latest air quality update from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) Northern Mindanao, the observed haze is associated with transboundary smoke from forest and land fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, which may be carried into the Philippines by the southwest monsoon (habagat).

Based on the latest monitoring, the Cagayan de Oro City and Tagoloan stations recorded air quality ranging from Fair to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, while the Iligan City station recorded elevated air quality levels.

The public is encouraged to limit prolonged outdoor activities when haze levels are elevated, stay hydrated, and use appropriate protective measures when going outdoors. Individuals who experience difficulty breathing, persistent coughing, eye irritation, or other concerning symptoms should seek appropriate medical attention.

DOH CHD-NM reminds the public, especially public utility drivers, delivery riders, street vendors, field workers, and other individuals who spend extended periods outdoors, to follow recommended health precautions during haze episodes.

Strengthening partnerships for a successful School-Based Immunization Program.

The Rural Health Unit of Talisayan successfully conducted the School-Based Immunization (SBI) Consultative Meeting today at the RHU Conference Hall August 28, 2026, with the participation of school heads from both public and private schools in the Municipality of Talisayan.

The consultative meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the goals, guidelines, and implementation plans for the upcoming School-Based Immunization Program. It also reinforced the vital partnership between the health and education sectors in ensuring that eligible learners receive safe, timely, and complete immunization services.

The RHU Talisayan extends its sincere appreciation to all school heads for their active participation, valuable insights, and continued commitment to protecting the health and well-being of our learners.
