The Tandag City Health Office – DOH Certified Animal Bite Treatment Center warmly welcomed the HFDUC (Health Facility Development Unit) Assessment Team of CHD- Caraga, for the inspection of our facility and the evaluation of requirements for the renewal of our certification.

This inspection aims to ensure that our facility continues to provide safe, timely, and high-quality rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) services to the community. Regular assessments like these help verify our compliance with national health standards, proper sanitation practices, vaccine protocols, and the maintenance of a safe and patient-centered healthcare environment for both clients and healthcare workers.

We are truly grateful for the guidance, support, and dedication of the assessment team in helping us continuously improve our services. Rest assured that the Tandag City Health Office remains committed to delivering compassionate, quality, and accessible healthcare to the community we serve.

March is Rabies Awareness Month 🐾🧡

Rabies is a silent but deadly disease—once symptoms appear, it is almost always fatal. But here is the truth we all need to remember: rabies is 100% preventable. With the right information, timely action, and shared responsibility, no one should die from rabies.

This March 2026, the CHO–Tandag Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) proudly joins the Department of Health in strengthening awareness and protecting our community—our children, our families, and our beloved pets.

Rabies prevention starts with each one of us. Small actions can save lives. We humbly encourage everyone to help keep our community safe by:

✔️ Vaccinate pets regularly – our dogs and cats depend on us for protection
✔️ Practice responsible pet ownership – keep pets leashed and supervised
✔️ Avoid stray and unfamiliar animals – especially for children
✔️ Seek immediate medical care at the nearest ABTC after any animal bite or scratch—even if it seems minor

Early consultation and proper treatment can mean the difference between life and death. Do not wait. Do not self-medicate. Let trained health workers help you.

The City Government of Tandag, through the Tandag City Health Office-Animal Bite Treatment Center celebrates World Rabies Day 2025 with a theme of "Act Now: You, Me, Community" and marked the occasion by providing free health services, including:

✅ Free Rabies Post-Exposure Prophylaxis
(PEP) Vaccination: Protecting individuals from rabies after animal bites 👩‍⚕️💉

✅ Animal Bite Wound Care Procedures
Proper treatment for wounds caused by animal bites
🐶🐱

✅ Education Advocacy
One-on-One Counseling on expected adverse reactions, completion of vaccination schedules, correct first aid practices, biting animal observation, and responsible pet ownership.

This month, our CHO-Tandag (ABTC) has been hectic and had catered 388 clients as to ff:

Male = 175
Female = 213
all for 1st dose, 2nd dose, 3rd dose, 4th dose and Booster dose! 🤗
