"Independence isn't demanded—it's built."
Throwing a child straight into a task and expecting them to execute it alone isn't building independence. It's triggering task paralysis. 🛑
True independence is built through gradual, safe scaffolding.
Here is how we teach skills step-by-step at KLC using I Do, We Do, You Do:
📍 Slide 1: I DO (Model)
You do the task while thinking out loud. Zero demand on the child. They just watch.
📍 Slide 2: WE DO (Share)
You do the task together side-by-side. Your hands-on support makes success guaranteed.
📍 Slide 3: YOU DO (Launch)
They take the wheel! You step back to a supportive, quiet presence—ready to help before dysregulation hits.
⚠️ Pro Tip: Rushing straight to "You Do" causes anxiety and shutdown. Spend 80% of your time in the "We Do" phase until their confidence is rock solid! 🏗
