"Ang Lakas ng Isang Ina"
Maria left the Philippines with a heavy heart, leaving behind her two young daughters, her parents, and siblings. She embarked on a journey to work as a domestic helper in Dubai, driven by her desire to provide a better life for her loved ones.
Every day, Maria woke up before dawn, her eyes puffy from lack of sleep. She would whisper a prayer, "Lord, bigyan mo ako ng lakas para sa pamilya ko" She would then start her chores, taking care of her employer's household.
Despite the exhaustion and homesickness, Maria persevered. She knew that every dirham she earned would go towards her daughters' education, her siblings' needs, and her parents' medication.
Years passed, and Maria's hard work paid off. Her daughters graduated from college, her siblings finished their education, and her parents received the medical care they needed. Maria's family was thriving, thanks to her sacrifices.
One day, Maria's daughter called her, crying tears of joy. "Nanay, I graduated! Thank you for everything!" Maria's heart swelled with pride, knowing that all her hardships had been worth it.
As Maria looked out the window, she whispered, "Salamat, Panginoon, sa lahat ng biyaya". She knew that she had made a difference in her family's life, and that gave her the strength to keep going.
Maria's story is a testament to the unwavering dedication of OFWs like her, who brave the challenges of working abroad to provide for their loved ones. Her selflessness and perseverance inspire us all to appreciate the sacrifices of those who work tirelessly to give their families a better life.
