VMC GERIA COMMUNITY DAYCARE

This day, May 29, our Department visited the community Gen. T. De Leon for a day filled with learning and fun. Our doctors lectured on topics such as Road Safety, Mental Health, and Hypertension. The participants showed their talent by dancing after the insightful lectures. Lastly, a flower making class was conducted to practice their fine motor skills and to lessen their stress levels.

This is just one of the many events for the community. We're grateful for the continued support for our department.

This month’s Daycare and Wellness Activity was filled with insight and creativity.

Our older adults learned about road safety and prevention of crashes by the lecture of Dr Rich Orbeta. This was followed by an awareness discussion regarding mental health by Dr Vince Padit. In between, we did flower making to promote creativity and fun for our older adults.

💜 Geriatric Specialty Awareness at Bahay Kanlungan 💜

Yesterday, our geriatric team had the wonderful opportunity to conduct a meaningful Geriatric Care Orientation for the dedicated staff and caregivers of Bahay Kanlungan.
It was a day filled with learning, reflection, and shared experiences as we strengthened awareness on comprehensive geriatric care — especially in supporting older adults living with dementia.

🧠 We explored:
• Understanding dementia — prevention, early recognition, and timely interventions
• Practical and compassionate communication strategies for patients with aggression
• Identifying, preventing, and properly managing caregiver burden
• A hands-on workshop on geriatric screening

Beyond the lectures, the atmosphere was vibrant and engaging! Laughter filled the room during mind-stimulation activities, interactive discussions, and light exercises that energized everyone. It was a beautiful reminder that learning becomes even more powerful when it is shared with joy and teamwork.

✨ Caring for our elders is not just a responsibility — it is a commitment to dignity, patience, and love.

❤️We are truly honored to partner with caregivers who dedicate their time and hearts to serving our beloved seniors. Together, we continue to build a more compassionate and informed geriatric care community.

📍 Philippine Geriatric Center (PGC) Act
This bill was approved on third and final reading by the Senate and seeks to establish a dedicated Philippine Geriatric Center — a specialized government hospital focused on elderly healthcare services

Voting 23-0-0, the Senate on Monday, February 2, 2026, approved SBN 1509 or proposed Philippine Geriatric Center Act on third reading.

📅 January 19, 2026 | Strengthening Care for Our Older Adults 💙
The Department of Geriatrics, led by Dr. Jeffrey C. Capian, together with its dedicated staff and consultants, paid a courtesy visit to Barangay GTDL and met with Barangay Captain B**g Ferrer to discuss the extension of geriatric services into the community.
The meeting focused on the proposed Memorandum of Agreement/Understanding, officially designating Barangay GTDL as an adopted community for geriatric care. This meaningful collaboration aims to bring essential health services closer to our senior citizens—supporting them in maintaining their independence, promoting active aging, and enhancing their overall quality of life.
✨ A big step forward in caring for our older adults—because healthy aging starts in the community! ✨

This month’s Daycare and Wellness Activity was filled with learning, movement, and smiles! 🦷💪
Our older adults gained valuable insights on oral health through an informative talk by Dr. Richa Carreon Marcos, empowering them to take better care of their smiles. 🪥✨
We also learned a lot from Dr. Jose Antonio Bajo, who discussed Osteoporosis and the Public Health Approach to Sensory Impairment, highlighting the importance of prevention and healthy aging. 👂🦴
The program ended on a high note with light exercises and an energetic Zumba performance, keeping everyone active, happy, and moving to the beat! 💃🕺
A wonderful day of knowledge, wellness, and fun—because healthy aging is best enjoyed together! 💙
