𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜

The Philippine College of Occupational Medicine – Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter together with Unilab Primary Care successfully held a wellness pickleball session at D**k and Dunk — a meaningful gathering that promoted not only physical activity, but also connection, teamwork, and work-life balance among healthcare professionals.

The activity was joined by physicians, orthopedic surgeons, and the dedicated operating room staff of Zamboanga City Medical Center, creating an avenue to strengthen camaraderie within the medical community while advocating for healthier lifestyles.

As healthcare professionals, we continuously encourage our patients and communities to prioritize wellness. Activities like this remind us that physicians and healthcare workers must also practice what we preach — taking time to move, recharge, and care for our own well-being.

The Philippine College of Occupational Medicine Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter proudly participated in the celebration of the Fisherfolks Wellness Day organized by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region IX last May 20 at Fisherman’s Village, Barangay Laoy, Olingan, Dipolog City.

Observed to recognize and promote the health, safety, and well-being of fisherfolk communities, the activity highlights the vital role of fisherfolk in ensuring food security and sustaining local livelihoods. It also serves as a platform to bring healthcare, wellness education, and occupational health awareness closer to one of the country’s essential workforce sectors.

This year marks the second consecutive year of participation of PCOM Zamboanga Peninsula in the Workers’ Wellness Day celebration, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to advancing occupational health, preventive medicine, and community wellness across various industries and vulnerable worker populations in the region.

PCOM Zamboanga Peninsula extends its gratitude to BFAR IX, partner agencies, healthcare volunteers, and the fisherfolk community for the successful conduct of this meaningful initiative. Together, we continue to advocate for healthier workers, safer workplaces, and stronger communities.

The Philippine College of Occupational Medicine (PCOM) Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter joined the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 9 (DOLE 9) in its Medical Mission for Workers, held at KCC Mall de Zamboanga as part of the 124th Labor Day celebration.

This annual initiative highlights a continuing commitment to serve the workers of Western Mindanao through accessible and dedicated medical services.

Our chapter reaffirmed its commitment to advancing occupational health by actively engaging in discussions that highlight not only physical safety—but also the growing importance of mental well-being, workplace culture, and psychosocial resilience in today’s evolving work environment.

From knowledge-sharing sessions to meaningful collaboration with partner agencies and stakeholders, PCOM Zampen continues to advocate for safer, healthier, and more compassionate workplaces across the region.
