Water is essential for every cell in the body and may also help support healthy blood sugar levels. Staying well hydrated helps the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine when blood sugar is high and supports normal circulation, allowing nutrients and hormones to move efficiently throughout the body. Water also lubricates joints, regulates body temperature, and helps maintain healthy kidney function, making it one of the most important nutrients for overall health.

Unlike sugary drinks such as soft drinks or fruit juices, plain water does not raise blood sugar levels. Some studies suggest that people who drink enough water may have better blood sugar control, although researchers are still investigating exactly how strong this effect is. Mineral water may provide additional minerals, but plain water remains an excellent choice for staying hydrated.

Most healthy adults need about 2 to 3.7 liters of fluids each day, although individual needs vary depending on age, body size, climate, and physical activity. While drinking enough water is beneficial, consuming extremely large amounts in a short time can overwhelm the kidneys and lead to water intoxication, a rare but potentially serious condition.

CAR T cell therapy was originally developed to treat certain blood cancers by modifying a patient's own immune cells to recognize and destroy cancer cells. Researchers are now testing whether the same approach can treat autoimmune diseases, in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues. Instead of simply reducing inflammation, the therapy aims to remove the harmful immune cells responsible for the disease, giving the immune system an opportunity to rebuild itself with healthier cells.

The treatment begins by collecting T cells from the patient's blood. In the laboratory, these cells are genetically modified to recognize specific immune cells that produce harmful antibodies. After being returned to the body, the engineered T cells destroy these abnormal cells while leaving most other immune functions intact. Early clinical trials have reported encouraging results in diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, and systemic sclerosis, with some patients achieving long periods of remission.

Although these findings are promising, CAR T cell therapy remains an experimental treatment for autoimmune diseases. Larger clinical trials are still needed to confirm its long term safety, effectiveness, and durability before it becomes a standard treatment outside research settings.

Scientists have discovered that cells can detect their surroundings much farther away than previously believed. Individual migrating cells can sense physical changes about 10 micrometers ahead by pulling on collagen fibers that surround them. However, when healthy epithelial cells work together as a group, they can collectively detect structures up to 100 micrometers away. This allows them to gather information about nearby tissues before moving. The findings come from laboratory experiments and computer models and could improve our understanding of how cancer spreads.

Cells sense their environment by pulling on collagen, the network of protein fibers that supports body tissues. As the fibers stretch and deform, they transmit mechanical information back to the cells, allowing them to detect whether nearby tissue is soft, stiff, or obstructed. Groups of cells generate much stronger pulling forces than single cells, greatly extending how far they can "feel" through the surrounding tissue and helping them coordinate movement.

Researchers believe cancer cells may use this same long range sensing ability to identify easier paths through surrounding tissue and escape from the original tumor. By discovering the molecules that control this process, future treatments may be able to reduce cancer spread by preventing tumor cells from sensing and following favorable routes.
