🩺 Treatment of PPR (Supportive Only)

Since PPR is a viral disease, there is no specific antiviral treatment. However, supportive therapy helps reduce mortality and speed up recovery.

1️⃣ Control of Fever and Pain

Antipyretics / Analgesics:
👉 Paracetamol
👉 Meloxicam
👉 Flunixin Meglumine

2️⃣ Prevention of Secondary Bacterial Infections

Broad-spectrum Antibiotics:
👉 Oxytetracycline
👉 Penicillin + Streptomycin
👉 Sulfonamides (Trimethoprim + Sulfa)

3️⃣ Control of Diarrhea and Dehydration

Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS):
👉 Water + Salt + Glucose solution

IV Fluids:
👉 Ringer’s Lactate
👉 Dextrose Saline

4️⃣ Mouth Lesion Care

Mouth Wash Solutions:
👉 Weak Potassium Permanganate (KMnO₄) solution
👉 Glycerin + Borax mixture

5️⃣ Nutrition and Rest

Provide soft, easily digestible feed (like milk, green fodder).

Keep the animal in a clean, shaded, and stress-free area.

💉 Prevention (Control Measures)

PPR Vaccine: Annual vaccination of all goats and sheep
