وہ والدین، جو بیٹا تھیلیسیمیا میجر (بی ٹی ایم) اور اس کی روک تھام سے آگاہ ہیں، کیوں پھر بھی متعدد بچوں کے ساتھ بی ٹی ایم کے شکار ہوتے ہیں؟ اس کا جواب تلاش کرنے کے لیے میں نے ایسے کئی والدین کا انٹرویو کیا، خاص طور پر وہ جو کم سماجی و اقتصادی پس منظر سے تعلق رکھتے ہیں۔ حیرت انگیز طور پر، بنیادی وجہ مذہبی عقائد نہیں بلکہ مالی مشکلات کی وجہ سے لاپروائی تھی۔

شہری اور تعلیم یافتہ خاندانوں میں مختلف تجربات دیکھنے کو ملے۔ کچھ والدین، جو اپنے کیریئر کی حالت سے آگاہ تھے، نے سی وی ایس ٹیسٹنگ سے گریز کیا، یہ سوچ کر کہ یہ خدا کی مرضی ہے۔ لیکن جب ان کے بچے بی ٹی ایم کے شکار ہوئے، تو ان کا رویہ مثبت نہیں تھا اور حقیقت کا سامنا نہیں کر رہے تھے۔ دوسری طرف، وہ والدین جنہوں نے سی وی ایس ٹیسٹنگ کروائی لیکن غلط نارمل رپورٹس ملیں، زیادہ قبولیت دکھائی اور خدا کی مرضی سمجھ کر اپنے بچوں کی بہتر دیکھ بھال کی۔

یہ اس مقولے کی حکمت کو ظاہر کرتا ہے کہ "آپ اپنی پوری کوشش کریں اور باقی اللہ پر چھوڑ دیں" – جب آپ کوشش کرتے ہیں، اللہ آپ کو مشکلات کو برداشت کرنے کی طاقت دیتا ہے۔

🔍 Curious Case of Beta Thalassemia Major (BTM) – An Insightful Discovery 🔍

Why do parents, already aware of Beta Thalassemia Major (BTM) and its prevention, still have multiple children with BTM? To find answers, I interviewed many such parents, especially those from low socio-economic backgrounds. Surprisingly, the main reason wasn't religious beliefs but rather a non-serious attitude likely due to financial constraints leading to apathy.

In urban and educated families, experiences varied. Some parents, aware of their carrier status, avoided CVS testing, believing in leaving it to God's will. However, when faced with a BTM child, their reactions were not positive, failing to accept reality. Conversely, parents who underwent CVS testing but received false normal reports showed more acceptance, attributing their situation to God's will and taking better care of their children.

This underscores the wisdom of “do your best and leave the rest to Allah SWT” – when you make efforts, Allah SWT blesses you with the strength to bear challenges.

Conclusion:
It is crucial to seek medical advice and screen for carrier status if BTM runs in your family. This not only helps in preventing BTM in future generations but also avoids unnecessary iron supplements for anemia.
