From Awareness to Action: Building Safer Communities Together
In connection with Risk Awareness and Promotion of Safer Behavior Day, observed globally on 4 April every year, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) organized a seminar at its National Headquarters in Islamabad to strengthen stakeholder engagement for safer communities. The event brought together humanitarian partners, government representatives, civil defence officials, relief organizations, Movement partners, provincial RASB teams, PRCS staff, and volunteers to reinforce collective action in addressing the risks posed by explosive hazards.
Honorable Chairperson PRCS Mrs. Farzhana Naek highlighted the humanitarian impact of explosive hazards and reaffirmed PRCS’s commitment to equipping vulnerable communities with life-saving knowledge through its Risk Awareness and Safer Behavior (RASB) Program. She emphasized that stronger collaboration, community ownership, and sustained engagement are essential to ensuring that safety messages reach those most at risk. Head of Delegation ICRC in Pakistan Mr. Christoph Sutter, Secretary General PRCS Mr. Muhammad Abiadullah Khan, and CEO SPADO Mr. Raza Shah Khan also addressed the participants and stressed the importance of partnerships, preparedness, and shared responsibility in protecting lives.
The event also featured a presentation on explosive hazards by Mr. Qazi Inayat, a documentary screening, and a meaningful stage performance by PRCS volunteers reflecting the event theme. The seminar concluded with shield distribution, recognizing the support and contributions of partners and participants in advancing awareness, resilience, and safer behavior across communities.
