1 in 9 women are at risk of developing breast cancer in Pakistan. In Asia, Pakistan has the highest rate of Breast Cancer. Nearly 40,000 women die because of late detection of the cancer. But the awareness about it so low among the population.

October is the month for Breast Cancer Awareness. The goal of this month us to raise awareness about breast cancer and reduce the stigma associated with it.

UNFPA said 73,000 women were expected to give birth this month who would need skilled birth attendants, newborn care and support.

But a lot of women gave birth in cars, on the roads in the make shift tents and some on the way to the hospital because the roads were broken, making the journey longer.

Most victims of natural disasters are the poor, and particularly women. The recent floods in Pakistan have shown that the country is no exception. Disasters such as this are worse for women, girls, and women with disabilities. They face the biggest challenges including access to humanitarian assistance. Furthermore, the needs and vulnerabilities of women and girls are often distinct during disasters.

We at .pk are trying for scaling services include temporary women’s centres, and services for the prevention of and response to gender-based violence (GBV), with a focus on psychosocial support to GBV survivors through our work and interactions with women in areas near by flood affected populations who are lady healthworkers and can support other women with basic medical needs, mental health support and physical support to manage in this disaster.
