Monkey pox which is misdiagnosed as chicken pox. All HCPs are requested to take precautions and report to concerned DHO offices for sampling.
The mode of transmission is:
* Direct skin to skin contact with ( rashes, blisters, Scabs) infected person.
* Respiratory droplets.
* Contact with fomites ( contaminated objects)
* Animal to Human transmission through bites or scratches or handling infected animals or meat.
* Mother to child vertical transmission
Sign & symptoms
* Rashes look like pimples or blisters anywhere on the body, predominantly on face , arms , feet , hands , mouth, ge***al areas .
* Fever
* Swelling lymph nodes
* Muscle ache & backache
* Chills
* Exhaustion
* Respiratory symptoms ( sore throat, nasal congestion or cough)
* Headache.
Incubation period :
* 6- 14 days typically
* It's range is 5-21 days
Diagnostic test:
PCR
It's not usually fatal in adults but can cause death in immuno compromised adults . It's dangerous in children
Guidelines are preventive measures only . Vaccine is not available in Pakistan so it's only
* Hand washing
* Mask for patients and the person in contact.
* Isolation of patients.
* Avoid in*******se with infected persons
