Strengthening knowledge, building empathy, and fostering informed decision-making. ⚖️

Imkaan Welfare Organization’s Accessible Legal Aid Centre (ALAC) in collaboration with UNHCR, conducted a judicial capacity-building training on refugee rights at the Sindh Judicial Academy. The session explored the intersection of international refugee protection frameworks and Pakistan’s domestic legal landscape, while also addressing the distinct legal concepts of refugeehood and statelessness.

The active engagement of participants and thoughtful discussions throughout the training reflected a strong commitment to enhancing judicial understanding of complex protection issues. Capacity-building initiatives such as these play a vital role in equipping members of the judiciary with the knowledge and perspectives necessary to effectively address cases involving vulnerable populations and uphold principles of justice and due process.

Ahmed's documentary is here!
Karachi is getting hotter. But not equally.
In Machar Colony, the urban heat island effect is not a climate statistic — it is the temperature of your roof, your street, your daily life. Ahmed grew up in that heat. So he decided to understand it, document it, and ask why some communities are always the ones left to absorb what others generate.
Months of climate literacy training and 4 months of filmmaking and research later — this is what he found.

Imkaan Welfare Organization’s ALAC for Refugees conducted a capacity-building and sensitization training on refugee rights and protection with police officers at the Police School of Investigation, Garden Headquarters, bringing together participants from districts across Karachi.

Such trainings are critical in strengthening frontline responses to refugee protection by building awareness of legal frameworks, enhancing sensitivity to the vulnerabilities faced by displaced populations, and promoting rights-based, humane policing practices.

We are grateful to Mr. Ziaullah, Principal, for facilitating this session, and appreciate the active engagement and thoughtful participation of the officers, which made the training truly impactful.
