So many women struggle with weight changes, cravings, fatigue, irregular periods, acne, fertility issues, mood symptoms, and future diabetes riskโ and a lot of the time insulin resistance is sitting quietly in the background connecting everything.
As a doctor, this shift honestly makes sense to me because treating only symptoms while ignoring metabolic health and lifestyle often doesnโt work long-term. Medicines absolutely have a role, but without addressing lifestyle factors, many patients continue to struggle.
And honestly, this conversation is especially important in Pakistan, where insulin resistance, obesity, prediabetes, and diabetes are becoming incredibly common due to modern lifestyle patternsโ poor sleep, stress, inactivity, processed foods, and loss of muscle health.
Lifestyle changes are not a โbonus.โ
For many metabolic conditions, they are part of the treatment itself.
I just hope this helps move the conversation toward earlier recognition, less stigma, and more whole-body care for women. ๐ค
