PCOS is entering a new chapter.
Experts have proposed a new name: PMOS, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
Because this condition was never only about ovarian cysts.
For many women, the real issue involves insulin resistance, hormonal imbalance, irregular ovulation, inflammation, and long term metabolic health.
Symptoms like acne, fatigue, irregular periods, weight struggles, hair changes, and mood shifts are connected. They are not “just hormones.”
The new name reflects what science and clinicians have understood for years:
this is a whole body condition, not only an ovarian one.
When we change the way we understand a condition, we improve the way we treat it.
