During her daily institutional rounds, the worthy Dean reviews ongoing tasks, discusses key institutional affairs, and directs the concerned Heads of Departments to provide regular updates regarding departmental progress, performance, and community-oriented services. Celebrating Research, Academic Excellence & Global Collaboration

Prof. Dr. Saira Afzal, Dean, Institute of Public Health, Government of Punjab, is invited as Guest of Honor at the Annual Research Day of Rahbar Medical & Dental College, where she had the opportunity to witness and appreciate outstanding oral and poster research presentations by emerging healthcare researchers.

Prof. Dr. Saira Afzal is a distinguished academic, researcher, public health leader and international collaborator, with an extensive record of research, teaching and health-system leadership. Her academic journey has been strengthened through collaborations with leading national and international institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, University of Cambridge, Kagoshima University, Japan, Purdue University, Imperial College London and international health organizations including WHO, UNICEF and UK Health Security Agency.

Her research and academic contributions span infectious diseases, disease surveillance, vaccination, public health, health systems, epidemiology and emerging health threats, with a strong emphasis on translating research evidence into practical health policies and improved population health.

With 45,000+ citations, an H-index of 47 and an i10-index of 145, her scholarly profile reflects a sustained contribution to medical and public health research. She has also served in significant academic and editorial roles, including leadership in medical education and research.

Her message to young researchers remains powerful: research is not simply about publishing papers, it is about generating evidence, challenging existing knowledge and transforming that evidence into better healthcare and healthier communities.

Weekly Alert Dengue, DEAG, SOPs Review Meeting -

Infectious diseases like dengue, influenza although endemic in region but poses serious threat to the general public if remained unchecked. Under the supervision of worthy Dean, IPH, Prof. Dr. Saira Afzal for look in to the gaps in dengue surveillance and data entries on weekly basis and give recommendations to the higher ups for managing and controlling the disease through monitored surveillance and data entry activities.
The representative from CDC, EP&C, DGHS, Mr. Moeen Akhtar (Senior Program Manager, PITB), Mr. Junaid (Program Manager, PITB), attended the meeting along with Mr. Umar Rathore (HOD Biostatiscs), Mr. M Asif Mahmood (Entomologist, IPH), to review the dengue alert generation and data situational analysis. The team has desired to continue the meetings on weekly basis for timely response to the identified gaps.
