*New Orders*

The traders are reluctant to make new orders due to uncertainity in market. The demands have been low previous year while the supply was abundant. The trickle down impact affected the market prices for various spices Internationally.

The real question is, while the International prices have been dropped; for instance, Tamarind, last year was traded at over USD 800 / ton CFR is being currently offered at as low as $480 / ton. Are we expecting new mature orders this year? What could be the lowest price point? How is the crop of tamarind this year? What will be the demand this season?

Salaam Traders is specialised in sourcing and supply of natural ingredients. Our reliable services include the Import and Export of high quality, market oriented products.

Freight rates to the West are rising again. Are we looking at a challenge - or the beginning of a new opportunity?

Case: Red Rose Export from Pakistan to Europe, USA, China can fit in only upto 6000 kg in 40 ft container. "The freight cost has been doubled". On the other hand, Himalayan Pink salt can fit in upto 25 tons in a 20ft container.

Whether you're importing machinery, cotton, chemicals, food ingredients, or exporting garments, textiles, sports goods, leather products, herbs, spices, rice, or fresh produce; rising freight costs eventually reach everyone's bottom line.

A small increase in ocean freight can add thousands of dollars to a container. For some products, that's manageable. For others, it can determine whether an order remains profitable.

Let's consider a few examples:

β€’ A garment exporter shipping to Europe may see reduced margins unless prices are renegotiated.

β€’ A food importer relying on edible oils, pulses, or raw ingredients may face higher landed costs, forcing distributors and retailers to adjust prices.

β€’ A textile manufacturer importing cotton or machinery may experience increased production costs before the finished product even reaches the market.

β€’ Exporters of natural ingredients, herbs, spices, and agricultural commodities must compete with suppliers from other origins while managing higher logistics costs.

So, why are freight rates increasing?

Growing demand, limited vessel capacity, port congestion, geopolitical uncertainties, and changing shipping schedules are all contributing to the current market.

The real question isn't "Will freight come down?"
It's "Is your supply chain prepared; if it doesn't?"

Businesses that usually perform better during these periods are those that:

βœ” Plan purchases and shipments earlier.
βœ” Build inventory before freight peaks.
βœ” Strengthen relationships with suppliers and logistics partners.
βœ” Focus on total landed costβ€”not just product price.

Every freight cycle creates pressure, but it also rewards preparation. Companies that make informed decisions today often gain a competitive edge tomorrow.

How is the recent increase in freight impacting your industry? I'd be interested to hear perspectives from importers, exporters, manufacturers, freight forwarders, and supply chain professionals.

Note: We renegotiated the packaging of our order of Red rose petals from cartons to bags. Now, we can fit in upto 7 tons into a 40 ft HC container.

πŸŒΏπŸ’§ Did you know? A common tropical fruit has become the focus of surprising research on microplastics...

Tamarind has long been used in traditional cuisines and herbal practices around the world, but recent laboratory research has uncovered an unexpected property.

Scientists found that extracts from tamarind were able to bind to and remove a large proportion of microplastic particles from water under controlled laboratory conditions. Researchers believe the fruit's natural polysaccharides and plant compounds may help trap tiny plastic particles, causing them to clump together so they can be more easily separated from the water.

This discovery has sparked interest in using tamarind as a natural bio-based material for water purification and other environmental applications.

Some scientists are also exploring whether these same binding properties could eventually have implications for supporting the body's natural detoxification systems. However, it's important to note that this research is still in its early stages, and there is currently no evidence that eating tamarind removes microplastics from the human body. More human studies are needed before any conclusions can be made.

Even without those potential applications, tamarind remains a nutritious fruit rich in polyphenols, potassium, magnesium, fiber, and antioxidant compounds that support overall health.

πŸ’‘ How to enjoy it:
Use tamarind pulp in curries, marinades, sauces, soups, or refreshing drinks. Its naturally sweet-tart flavor makes it a delicious way to add antioxidants and plant compounds to your diet while scientists continue exploring its fascinating properties.

The market trend for Tamarind has to re-adjust... I wonder, if the facts related to the consumption of Tamarind is correct? 😁

Research on tamarind and fluoride is real, and it is the reason this claim keeps circulating. In a controlled human study, tamarind intake increased the amount of fluoride excreted in urine, suggesting it may help the body clear more fluoride instead of retaining as much of it.

What makes this especially interesting is that later research in adolescents living in a fluorosis-affected area reported an added benefit beyond safer water alone: tamarind intake appeared to help mobilize deposited fluoride from bone by increasing urinary fluoride excretion. That is the part that made tamarind stand out from a normal β€œhealthy food” claim.

The part people need to keep straight is that the evidence is strongest for increased fluoride excretion in urine and possible effects on deposited fluoride in bone. The image claim goes wider by saying fluoride stored in bones, kidneys, and other tissues, but the better-supported human research is narrower than that. There is also animal research suggesting reduced fluoride levels in blood and bone, but that is not the same as proving broad detox effects across all tissues in people.

The takeaway: tamarind does appear to help increase fluoride excretion, and some research suggests it may help reduce fluoride burden in the body, especially in high-fluoride settings. But the strongest evidence does not prove a full-body cleanse across every tissue, so this is better framed as a promising fluoride-excretion finding than a miracle detox.
