Alhamdulillah, the first MedVerse Meta-Analysis Masterclass is coming to an end, and Dr. Sophia truly delivered on every promise made. From complete beginners to students already exploring research, the response and growth we witnessed throughout this journey has been incredible.

Many students requested to join after the session had already begun, but to maintain the quality of mentorship and provide proper hands-on guidance, enrollment remained closed mid-session.

This mentorship was never just about lectures β€” it was about learning by doing. Students worked hands-on, solved problems independently, received continuous mentorship, and developed real confidence in research.

The experience reflects the dedication behind MedVerse and the mentorship approach that has helped Dr. Sophia achieve 50+ publications, lead 60+ active research projects, and mentor students through practical, skill-based learning.

Most importantly, the biggest achievement of this session has been seeing students become more confident, curious, and genuinely excited about research.

The next batch will be opening soon, InShaAllah. πŸš€

🚨 Private Medical Colleges Fee Issue – MedVerse Pakistan Raises Its Voice

MedVerse Pakistan has received a large number of complaints from MBBS students studying in private medical colleges across Lahore, Multan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and other cities of Punjab regarding excessive tuition fee charges.

Despite the PMDC-approved annual fee cap of Rs. 1.89 million (18.9 lakh) for the 2024-25 session, several private medical colleges are reportedly charging students an additional Rs. 5–7 lakh or even more, placing an unfair financial burden on aspiring doctors and their families.

MedVerse Pakistan was established for the facilitation, support, and representation of MBBS students from both public and private medical colleges. We firmly believe that every medical student deserves transparency, fairness, and equal treatment.

We will actively highlight this issue, collect authentic student concerns, and raise a unified voice for private medical students before the relevant authorities. Medical education should be based on merit and quality, not on unjustified financial exploitation.

Students facing fee-related issues are encouraged to share their concerns and supporting documents with MedVerse Pakistan.

🚨 Spoiler Alert 🚨
MedVerse is now expanding beyond medicine and opening new career pathways for future doctors. πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ“š
I’m also trying to connect with a CSP officer, especially someone from a medical background, to organize an exclusive CSS guidance webinar for MedVerse Members. The goal is to provide crystal-clear, practical, and career-oriented guidance for medical students and doctors who are considering the CSS journey.
✨ The session will focus on:
βœ”οΈ How doctors can prepare for CSS alongside medical studies
βœ”οΈ Subject selection and smart preparation strategy
βœ”οΈ Time management and consistency
βœ”οΈ Career opportunities after CSS for doctors
βœ”οΈ Real-life experiences, challenges, and success roadmap
At MedVerse, we believe every student should be aware of all possible career opportunities and make informed decisions for their future. This webinar can become a game-changing opportunity for many aspiring candidates.

No more crying over it now.
If you have a patient in Nishtar Hospital and surgery is being delayed until reports arrive β€” no matter how critical the patient’s condition is β€” then apparently you are not supposed to call anyone for help or question the doctor on duty.
You are simply expected to say:
β€œFine, follow merit and SOPs. No problem.”
The government should also look into whether it is actually providing the resources required to implement the SOPs written in books in public hospitals. Many hospitals don’t even have enough budget for medicines.
In some places, ward boys are being made to perform the duties of laboratory technicians due to severe staff shortages.
But no β€” instead of addressing the root causes, they only want to clean the dust off the surface.
What steps have the AIDS Control Program and other relevant departments taken for HIV prevention and large-scale screening programs?
What action has been taken against the widespread quackery present in every street and neighborhood?
After all, where are these HIV patients coming from?
Has anyone ever seriously paid attention to that question?
And this is exactly what happened.
Now tell me β€” why would anyone want to work here or spend years studying to become a doctor?
For now, the Secretary of Health Punjab has taken β€œmajor action” by suspending the postgraduate training of doctors.
Along with that, charge nurses and several other doctors have also been suspended on charges of mismanagement and incompetence.

People and media are saying a patient who was HIV positive was operated at Multan without getting screening tests done . It is not a crime because this is just normal as every patient has new sterilized set of instruments before a procedure is done .

Hundreds of such procedures are happening across the province . No screening was ever done esp at minor OT's at all hospitals.

It is good that people are talking about standard practices now .

The only thing alarming is that in a country where spending on healthcare is at level of african countries but standards expected are off the level of european countries .

Pakistan’s healthcare system survives because of the tireless dedication, sacrifices, and day-and-night efforts of our medical professionals. However, for a strong and efficient healthcare system, doctors must be provided with their rightful compensation, financial security, and professional dignity.

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) strongly urges the Government of Pakistan and the relevant authorities to implement the following fair and revised monthly pay structure for all cadres:

πŸ’° Proposed Monthly Salary Structure

β€’ House Officers β€” PKR 100,000
β€’ Trainee Medical Officers β€” PKR 200,000
β€’ Medical Officers β€” PKR 300,000
β€’ FCPS Qualified Specialist Doctors β€” PKR 400,000
β€’ Professors β€” PKR 800,000

✊ Fair Salaries | Dignity | Respect

Investing in doctors is, in fact, investing in a healthier and stronger Pakistan.

If we truly want to strengthen our country’s healthcare system, the state must give doctors their rightful due. In return for our selfless services, we ask only for fair compensation, a better working environment, and respect for our profession.

Join us in this campaign and help raise the voice of doctors to the highest authorities.

If hospital conditions truly need improvement, then we should learn from the hospitals that are already functioning successfully.
Institutions like CMH, Ittefaq Hospital, Sharif Medical City, and Shaukat Khanum have consistently maintained better systems. Rarely do we hear reports of doctor negligence from these hospitals. Hardly ever do we see doctors being publicly humiliated through viral videos, nor do politicians or bureaucrats visit these institutions just to insult medical staff for publicity.
Instead, in places like CMH, senior officials and leadership often encourage doctors, appreciate their services, and acknowledge the hard work of hospital staff. Similarly, the management of Shaukat Khanum and Ittefaq Hospital is known for supporting and appreciating their doctors. Many doctors from such institutions have even been recognized with official awards for their services.
These hospitals do not rely on ACs, DCs, or politicians creating unnecessary interference or disrespect. Rather, they focus on providing staff with proper facilities, motivation, accountability, and an effective system of governance.
On the other hand, despite 35 years of continuous bureaucratic interference, political pressure, and disrespectful behavior in government hospitals, these tactics have failed to improve the system. In fact, conditions in many public hospitals have only worsened over time.

βš–οΈπŸ©Ί KNOW YOUR RIGHTS Ϋ”Ϋ”Ϋ”Ϋ” AWARENESS FOR DOCTORS πŸ©Ίβš–οΈ πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Every doctor must understand their legal rights, professional dignity, and the limits of administrative authority. Respect for administration is important, but professional boundaries must always be maintained.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ”Ή What Can an Assistant Commissioner (AC) Do?

The role of an AC is limited to administrative oversight only, including:

βœ” Staff attendance
βœ” Hospital cleanliness
βœ” Availability of medicines
βœ” General facility management
βœ” Monitoring under the Punjab Infectious Diseases Act

➑️ Their duty is to ensure service delivery β€” NOT to supervise clinical work.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ”Ή Clinical Decisions Are Beyond AC Authority

An AC is an administrative officer, not a medical expert.

❌ They cannot question:

β€’ Diagnoses
β€’ Surgical decisions
β€’ Treatment plans
β€’ Clinical protocols

🩺 Medical work can only be evaluated by qualified medical professionals under the PM&DC Act.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ”Ή Professional Hierarchy Matters

According to civil service protocol:

πŸ“Œ A Grade-17 AC has no legal authority to reprimand or supervise senior doctors, Professors, or consultants in Grade-20/21.

Professional respect and hierarchy must be observed at all times.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ”Ή Can an AC Suspend or Fine a Doctor?

🚫 NO.

Under the PEEDA Act 2006, only the:
βœ” Secretary Health
βœ” Chief Secretary
are competent authorities for disciplinary action against doctors.

If an AC notices an administrative issue, they may only report it through proper channels.

❌ Spot suspensions, punishments, harassment, or fines are unlawful.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ”Ή Zero Tolerance for Harassment

No officer has the right to insult, humiliate, or harass medical staff publicly.

⚠️ Such behavior violates:
πŸ“– Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules 1966

If any officer oversteps:
βœ” Stay calm & professional
βœ” Document the incident
βœ” Report to the Medical Superintendent
βœ” Inform professional associations immediately
