KNEE ARTHRITIS:
Pain: Persistent or intermittent pain in the knee, often worsening with activity and improving with rest.
Stiffness: Reduced flexibility and difficulty in fully bending or straightening the knee, especially after periods of inactivity or in the morning.
Swelling: The knee may appear swollen or puffy due to inflammation or fluid buildup (effusion) in the joint.
Crepitus: A grinding, crackling, or popping sensation when moving the knee, often due to the roughening of cartilage surfaces.
Limited Range of Motion: Decreased ability to move the knee through its full range of motion, impacting daily activities like walking or climbing stairs.
Joint Deformity: Visible changes in the shape of the knee joint, such as bowing of the legs (varus deformity) or knock-knees (valgus deformity).
Muscle Weakness: Weakness in the muscles around the knee, particularly the quadriceps, leading to instability or difficulty in supporting the joint.
Warmth and Redness: The skin over the knee may feel warm to the touch and appear red, especially during flare-ups of inflammation.
Difficulty with Weight-Bearing: Increased pain and discomfort when putting weight on the affected knee, often leading to limping or favoring the other leg.
Loss of Function: Progressive decline in the ability to perform routine activities such as walking, standing for long periods, or getting up from a seated position due to pain and stiffness.
