The Virus That Cannot Live Alone!
❓ What makes Hepatitis D different?
🔹 Hepatitis D Virus (HDV) is a defective virus. 🔹 It cannot infect or multiply on its own. 🔹 It requires Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) to survive because it uses the Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg).
⚠️ Who is at risk? People who are infected with Hepatitis B.
🩺 Symptoms • Fatigue • Loss of appetite • Nausea • Jaundice (yellow eyes/skin) • Dark urine • Right upper abdominal pain
🚨 Why is it important? HDV infection often causes more severe liver disease than Hepatitis B alone and can increase the risk of cirrhosis and liver failure.
