A standard creatinine-based eGFR may not tell the whole story in diabetic kidney disease. This NHANES analysis explores whether the gap between cystatin C– and creatinine-based eGFR (eGFRdiff) adds prognostic value in DKD, suggesting that patients with eGFRdiff < –10 mL/min/1.73 m² may carry substantially higher all-cause and cardiovascular risk. A thought-provoking read for clinicians interested in cardio-renal risk stratification and earlier identification of high-risk patients.

This retrospective study of pregnant women with T1D on CSII and rt-CGM analyzed 14 days of pre-delivery data and found that HbA1c at delivery correlates with 24-hour variability metrics—but the strongest and most consistent associations occur overnight (00:00–06:00), with no significant daytime correlations. Clinically, this argues for tighter nocturnal profiling and adjustments in late pregnancy rather than relying on aggregate CGM/HbA1c alone.

How does GDM remodel the term placenta?
Early-online research (n=100 GDM vs 100 controls) pairs Van Gieson histochemistry with IHC (CD117 for telocytes, CD68 for Hofbauer cells) and precise ocular micrometry (400×). Key signals: larger villi, greater stromal collagen, altered telocyte phenotype with reduced CD117 intensity, and higher Hofbauer cell burden/stronger CD68 signal—altogether pointing to stromal fibrosis + immune rewiring that may impact fetoplacental exchange. Methods and statistics are clearly laid out (unpaired t-tests; standardized intensity scoring).
