GCMS testing is an important tool, but it only tells part of the story.
A GCMS can identify the compounds present in an oil and compare them to what would be expected in nature. However, it cannot detect everything. Even more surprising, a synthetic compound can sometimes appear identical to a natural one on a standard GCMS analysis.
