September is here. 🍂

And I’m not starting the month with a long list of things I must change.

Instead, I’m thinking about the things I want to do more of.

🌿 More time in nature
🚶‍♀️ More movement
🥗 More nourishing food
😴 Better sleep
🧘‍♀️ More moments of mindfulness
✈️ More meaningful experiences
❤️ More time doing the things that make life feel good

Because healthy ageing isn’t about perfection.

It’s about the small choices we make again and again.

This month I’ll be sharing some of the ways I try to bring these principles into real life — including travelling, exploring new places and fitting wellbeing around a busy family life.

So let’s make September our little reset.

What would you like to do more of this month?

A little taste of Budapest. 🇭🇺🍦☕

Travel also means trying things you wouldn’t normally eat at home.

During my unexpected few hours in Budapest, I couldn’t resist trying chimney cake with ice cream, a Hungarian treat I’d never had before.

And yes… I enjoyed every bite. 😄

It got me thinking about how we talk about “healthy eating”.

For me, healthy ageing isn’t about never having dessert or making the perfect food choice every single time.

It’s about what we do most of the time, nourishing our bodies with good food, while still leaving room for pleasure, culture and experiences.

Food is part of travel.
Food is part of culture.
And sometimes food is simply something to enjoy.

Healthy ageing doesn’t have to mean a life without treats.

It can mean finding a balance that allows us to feel good and enjoy life at the same time. 💚

What local food have you tried while travelling that you still remember?

Sometimes travel isn’t planned. 🌍

My yesterday trip to Budapest wasn’t meant to be a holiday. It was an unexpected work-related trip and I only had a few hours to explore the city.

But those few hours reminded me of something I often talk about when it comes to wellbeing:

You don’t always need more time. Sometimes you just need to use the time you have differently.

A walk through unfamiliar streets.
A little time by the water.
Discovering somewhere new.
Stepping away from your usual routine.
Allowing yourself to be curious.

Travel can be much more than a break from everyday life. It can be a way to move, reconnect, reset and see the world and ourselves, from a slightly different perspective.

And sometimes, a few unexpected hours are enough. 💚 Budapest is beautiful and I will be back in couple of weeks.

The Age Code 📖🌿

I’ve recently started listening to The Age Code by David Cox, and it’s already giving me plenty to think about.

What I love about exploring longevity is that healthy ageing isn’t simply about adding more years to our lives, it’s about understanding how we can influence the quality of those years.

Our everyday choices matter:
🌿 Time in nature
🚶‍♀️ Regular movement
🥗 Nourishing food
😴 Quality sleep
🧘‍♀️ Managing stress
💙 Having purpose and meaningful connections

The more I learn, the more fascinated I become by the science of ageing, and by how many things are within our own influence.

I’m looking forward to seeing what else I discover in this audiobook. 📚

We often think about healthy ageing in terms of food, exercise and medical check-ups.

But there is another powerful element: our everyday relationship with nature.

A walk among trees.
Time spent gardening.
Sitting beside water.
Feeling the sun on your face.
Listening to birds instead of notifications.

These small moments can help us slow down, reconnect and create space to breathe.

For me, nature isn’t somewhere I visit occasionally.

It is part of how I want to live well and age well. 🌿
Photos from my allotment 💚 I love time spent in my garden, not only vegetables and fruits it’s giving to me but simply being there makes me happy. Seeing how everything is growing, listening to the birds singing, watching birds and butterflies visiting my garden. Sometimes it’s hard work but at the same time it is such a relaxing feeling.

What piece of nature makes you feel instantly better?

🌿 When was the last time you walked through a woodland without checking your phone?

Forest bathing isn’t about exercise or hiking. It’s about slowing down and becoming fully present in nature.

Research suggests that spending time in forests may help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and improve mood. It isn’t about walking further, it’s about noticing more.

Next time you’re surrounded by trees, pause for a moment.

Listen to the birds.

Notice the scent of the woodland.

Feel the breeze on your skin.

Nature asks nothing of us, yet often gives us exactly what we need.

🌳 Have you ever experienced the calming effect of a woodland walk?

🌈 Colour your plate, nourish your body. 💚

One of the simplest ways to support your health is to enjoy a wide variety of colourful vegetables throughout the week.

Each colour reflects different plant compounds, vitamins and minerals that work together to support our bodies.

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated. Often, the simplest meals made with fresh, seasonal ingredients are the most satisfying.

What’s your favourite summer vegetable?

The photo below shows vegan lasagna I made with courgettes from my garden. If you would like the recipe comment below “courgette”.

🌿 Some places don’t just change your view, they change how you feel.

The most memorable journeys aren’t always the ones where we see the most.

Sometimes they’re the ones where we slow down enough to notice the sound of birdsong, the breeze through the trees or the gentle movement of water.

Travel can be more than sightseeing. It can be a chance to pause, breathe and reconnect with yourself.

If you could escape anywhere in nature this weekend, where would you go?

🚶‍♀️ Movement doesn’t have to be intense to make a difference.

One of the biggest myths about exercise is that it only counts if you’re exhausted afterwards.

In reality, regular movement, whether it’s a walk through the park, Nordic walking, gardening or taking the stairs, can support heart health, muscle strength, balance and overall wellbeing.

Healthy ageing isn’t built on occasional extremes. It’s built on the small choices we make again and again.

What was your movement today?

🌸 Echinacea – more than just a beautiful flower

Every summer, these vibrant blooms brighten my allotment, attracting bees, butterflies and other important pollinators. Healthy garden depends on biodiversity, just as our own wellbeing depends on caring for many aspects of our health.

Echinacea has a long history of traditional use in herbal medicine, particularly for supporting the immune system. Research suggests it may modestly reduce the duration of some common colds.

For me, simply spending time among these beautiful flowers is medicine in itself. 🌿

What’s flowering in your garden or local park at the moment?
